Peter Cottontail

June 26, 2011

On the first day of summer Price and I headed out for a walk, as previously blogged about HERE. What I did not include in that post were there lovely photos of a handsome/pretty little bun. Truthfully, I have no idea if it was a boy or girl. It had ears and a cute little tail so that is all that matters, but for the purpose of this post the rabbit will be male.

I absolutely love that any time Price sees a rabbit he points it out to me. When he spied this his arm went right in front of me, like how a mom snaps her arm out to guard her kid when she has to slam on the brakes. I was in la-la world enjoying the first day of summer and he broke that la-la moment to point out this little guy.

Once we (I) quieted down, Price started to snap photos of this Peter (obviously that is his name!). He flopped down in the dirt and rolled around. A rabbit that flops is very calm and happy so it was surprising for us to see this from a wild rabbit so close by.

We slowly edged our way closer to get back to our car while trying not to scare it. This took several minutes. This gave Price the perfect opportunity to take pictures and mosquitoes to attack two silent slowly moving warm blooded people.

Peter finally decided that we were just a bit to close to be laying down so he hopped up exposting that lovely white tail of his.

Peter finally decided to follow his bud and make a dash for the wooded area.

Hope you had a great weekend.

Summer Solstice

June 22, 2011

Being that yesterday was the ‘longest’ day of the year, Price and I decided to go out for a walk to soak up all the sun. I suggested that we check out Hammond Pond Reservation since it was close by and it seemed large enough for us to wander around without doing loops, like the reservoir.

Another reason I suggested going there was that it could give me a chance to play around with my NEW camera. I picked up a Nikon DSLR D3100 because my point and shoot is dying and I wanted to be able to take some better pictures than what that camera offered. So thanks to my Big G bonus and a target sale I picked up my first DSLR camera!

So we wandered around the area and snapped photos here and there. This is when I noticed that I got some bleach on my pants. awesome.

I wanted to stay and take more pictures of this Mountain Laurel but we were both dumb and didn’t put on any bug spray.  I felt like I was honing my cat like reflexes smacking them off my arms, legs and face.

I’m hoping to come back to the pond mid day on a weekend so see all the lilies in bloom.

Great first day of summer

Ashmont Grill with Boston Brunchers

June 19, 2011

Last month, I attended a fantastic brunch at Ashmont Grill with Boston Brunchers. I was so happy to be able to attend this brunch since Ashmont Grill was a new place to me. I love getting to try a new place, as well as doing so with a group of passionate people about food and blogging.

Veronica, our server, was very attentive from drinks to the complimentary dessert. She graciously saw to our large groups needs, especially our drinks. Although I had just come from a massage and I told myself I wouldn’t drink, I still got a peartini. At least I followed it up with 5 glasses of water. The peartini was light, refreshing, bubbly, sweet- all the prefect elements in a brunch beverage.

My last brunch outting was pretty bad, especially my Eggs Benedict. Since I order Benny 95% of the time and I had such a bad one last time, I ordered it again at Ashmont Grill. The eggs benedict ($12)

The kitchen sent out a complimentary dessert of sticky toffee pudding. I’m sure it was great but I passed mine up since I had already outdone myself with the eggs benedict. Looked sooo good.

I’d like to clarify that my photos are extra crappy since it was acting up that day. Some days are good and I get great photos. Other days are like this. It was having one of those days when it was really struggling. So much so that when we took the group photo it actually smoked a bit. Occasionally, the camera will send up a puff a smoke when the flash is used. So when I heard ‘did that camera just smoke?!’ I knew mine had just gone off. < awkward turtle >

Champs

June 17, 2011

Well they pulled it off. the Bruins won the Stanley Cup. We were at The Rattlesnake for a going away party, appropriately named “Good Bye Mass-Holes!”, for our friends who are moving back to Texas. Price, Emily and I arrived around 7.45 and didn’t leave until just after 11.30. We were having a fun time with friends and watching the game.

I was hoping for the parade to be on Friday since it goes past my office and I have seen Red Sox and Celtics parades before. Unfortunately, for me, it’s Saturday, so I’ll just have to see the coverage later on.

B-lieve!

June 15, 2011

Let’s go Bruins!

Game 7 is tonight. Let’s hope that the Bruins kick some Canuck ass. I’ll be out celebrating Bonus Day from 5-7 with coworkers and then heading to The Rattlesnake for a good-bye party for our friends Jason and Natalie. I’m sure both settings will be a buzz about the Bruins. I’m ready to sit there in amusement watching people scream at TV’s.

Raise you hand if you think I’ll be at work hungover tomorrow? <raises own hand!>

NKOTBSB @ Fenway {2}

June 14, 2011

It was a packed house for the NKOTBSB concert!

As Amanda noted, “I don’t think Fenway park has seen so many vaginas at one time.” I woud have to agree. you think restroom lines are bad at a Sox game. Ha! these lines were 100+ ladies deep.

I created this medley of little spinets of video I took during the NKOTBSB show at Fenway this past weekend. I love getting to hear bits of the both bands at once.

This photo is specifically for Amanda!

And this photo is for me!

Check out the guys wearing Bruins jersey’s since the Bruins are playing in the Stanley Cup. (Go Bruins!) A check wardrobe change, and NKOTB put on Celtics jersey’s and BSB put on Orlando Magic jersey’s to represent each hometown.

Backstreet Boys played Everybody for their encore. Classic. Check out the video below.

In middle school I used to go over my best friend’s house and we would watch their concert DVD’s while doing homework. Often the DVD’s have instructions on how to do some of their dances, including Everybody. We might have tried the dance, might have…

The NKOTB did their encore on the Green Monster. BSB then joined them to do a mash up of their hits, similar to their one they did at the AMA awards when they first announced their collaboration and upcoming tour.

They were selling shirts that said ‘Once in a Lifetime’ about having them play together at Fenway. As much as I enjoyed the shirt I decided to save my $40 and just rely on my memories, photos, and videos. Obviously, I will be scrapbooking this!

NKOTBSB @ Fenway {1}

June 13, 2011

You may recall that I confessed my love for The Backstreet Boys last year when their newest album came out. They were my first concert!! They are my ‘I-know-every-word-to-this-song’ and my ‘drive-Pricer-super-crazy-by-playing-all-their-CD’s-on-repeat’ band. So when I heard talks of a tour with New Kids on the Block I was tweeking out a bit. what? NKOTB AND BSB?!?!?!! One year my camp councilor woke us up every morning by BLASTING a NKOTB song. You will def wake up to ‘Hang Tough’ blasting and wake up happy. When the ‘boys’ ended the American Music Awards with a mashup I sat glued to the TV and watched it over and over again.

Fast forward a few months to their tickets going on sale and Amanda sending out a tweet about getting some American Express presale tickets. Sign me up!! After counting down the months, weeks, days we finally made our way to Fenway to see NKOTBSB!!!!

Every aspect of the show was fantastic!!

Jordin Sparks opened for the bands. It was the second time I had seen her as an opener

Mayor Menio named June 11th 2011 NKOTBSB day (actually it might just be NKOTB day but you can’t understand a word that man really says)

Mark Wahlberg, aka Marky Mark, came out to introduce the bands

The bands ran out on the field from the Red Sox dug out for intros

It poured rain but we were under the upper deck so remained dry

Even though it poured and was so cold the boys kept performing and even had fun in the rain splashing around and using the stage as a slip and slide

Oh and let’s not forget the abs, lots and lots of abs. umm Donnie is 41… Those Wahlbergs have amazing genes and must work out 24/7.

Naughty By Nature came out and performed a song. Holy 90’s night!!

Joey Mac brought out his son at the end. so sweet!

Intro from Mark and first performance from the bands

BSB’s “I want it that way”

Naughty By Nature’s “O.P.P”

Many more photos and videos to come…

It’s been crazy out there!

June 10, 2011

The past 2 weeks of weather have been crazy for us in MA.

on 6.1.11 a huge series of storms passed through in the early evening. The storms caused 3 tornado that hit central MA along the CT border. Springfield, Brimfield, and Monson were 3 towns that were badly hit. The images of homes swept away are heart breaking.

When the storms hit the Boston area the cell was less intense but still put a on a huge show, even hitting the Prudential Tower. Price and I been out to dinner celebrating our move that day and then did a quick stop at The Container Store. When we came out wind picked up and the sky was continuously lighting up.

AND THEN…

There was a storm last night too. Thankfully it was not as strong as the previous week’s storm but it still was impressive to see and hear

L*C*A

June 9, 2011

Since we’re getting the new place set up and I am too busy to post anything about cooking or scrapbooking,  I leave you with these photos of a movie shoot for “Here Comes the Boom” I saw on 5.13 at Faneuil Hall.

Gotta get that make up touched up!

oo it’s Henry Winkler (aka The Fonz!!) and Salma Hayek!

And that is Kevin James. He looked so tan!

Hi Salma!!!!!

Kevin, Salma, and Henry getting some direction before the ‘Lights Camera Action!’ (really, they don’t say it like that)

Charice has now joined them for the shooting

They are celebrating something in this scene

In the crowd, I was standing next to a few girls talking about this being ‘the Mark Walberg movie’. They were refering to Ted. I listened for a bit as they talked about Mark and Mila shooting and blah blah blah. But enough was enough and I had to point out that standing right in front of them was Salma and not Mila. Sorry but if you don’t know the difference than you can’t text your friends that Mila is looking good. Dumb.

This is the second movie I have seen shooting this spring while on my lunch break. It’s so much fun to watch it.

George Washington must be rolling over in his grave

June 2, 2011

I don’t get it.

I just go get it why Boston officials allowed Bruins jerseys to be put on statues in Boston. Who thought it was okay to cover up a statue of George Washington or Paul Revere? The men did great things to help our country gain it’s freedom. They have had statues built in their honor and we show them disrespect like this?

The George Washington statue on the Public Garden also sported a Bruins shirt. The George Washington statue on the Public Garden was one of the decorated statues in Boston.

Yes, I admit that I could not care less about the Stanely Cup. I only went to my first hockey game a few months ago. However, regardless of the fact that I don’t care about hockey, I still think it’s wrong. They did the same thing to the Make Way for Ducklings statues on the common, which I don’t have an issue with. The are based on a children’s book and little kids sit on the ducks, so clearly not the same significance as statues of historic figures. Clearly this little girl loves it.

Two-year-old Chloe Schouela, of Newton, cheered on the decorated Make Way For Ducklings statues in Boston. Each duckling had a Bruins cape with its name on the back.

Maybe I’ll just be viewed as a downer about it but I think there are other ways of Boston to show it’s pride and support for the Bruins.

*photos pulled from Boston.com

What are you thoughts? Am I a stick in the mud? Do you think this would happen in DC where there are lots of historical statues/monuments? Or do you love it?
