Sometimes first impressions are hard to shake. Like my first impression of Fresh City was at a Mass Pike rest stop and it was just not very good. I ordered a Caesar Salad Wrap and everything about it was unappealing the salad greens were limp, there was way too much dressing, there were croutons in there which were a weird discovery plus they got soggy quickly from the overabundance for dressing. After that I was hesitant to have Fresh city for a long time. I did start to enjoy it again when we lived in Newton as there is a location close by our old place. Fresh City has redeemed itself in my eyes and from a recent lunch I had they have really turned me around and I’m a fan.

I had Fresh City delivered to my office recently and things just happened to work really well for some coworkers around the conference room so they joined in and grabbed some lunch. The deal was that they could have lunch, saving themselves some $$ and time going out, if they gave me honest reviews of the food. They accepted and we all dug right in.

Acia Smoothie- a berry blast of a smoothie consisting of acia berries, pomegranate, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and raspberry sherbet

This was a home run in our books. The overall comment was that it was not too sweet, which we really liked. It did not feel like a sugary smoothie that is basically a milkshake with fruit, but this was very fruity.

Squash Soup- a silky smooth squash soup perfect for fall

This was a really good soup- creamy, velvety, and perfect for autumn. I felt it had a bit of a sheen on top, but I’m not sure if it was from oil, butter, or broth. It tasted really good but it made wonder about it nutritionally  Was I really indulging here? Either way, my coworkers  and I really enjoyed the flavors and consistency. I really want to make my own version of this it was so good.

Powerhouse Salad-  a salad packed full of romaine, spinach  tomatoes, cucumbers, edamame, cheddar cheese, craisins, grapes, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, toasted almonds and power dressing. 

I didn’t like this salad. I felt it was too busy. I guess the point of it is it’s packed with all these good for your things but I’d rather it didn’t have some of the things, like I could have skipped the grapes. But the vegetarian in our group liked it so you can’t just take what I say about it.

Napa Valley Turkey Sandwich- sliced turkey breast, cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and lemon chive mayo

My favorite of the lunch.  How can you not love a hearty fresh turkey sandwich packed with bacon and avocado… duh! All of the ingredients were a perfect combination, at least to me. I felt that tha lemon chive mayo really tied the sandwich together. The lemon brought out the mellow buttery flavor of the avocado and the chive brightened it all up. If I ever make a sandwich (happens as often as Haley’s Comet appearance) I would make a sandwich like this.

Pita Chips- a very crunchy snack that features all-natural pita chips with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating 

We were a divided bunch on these. Some loved these as they are crunchy and really sweet and other’s felt they were oily and too sweet. I really enjoyed them and I was really glad to have 2 bags of them as they were brought back out during our late nights working on the fashion show entry. Crunch time was certainly crunchy! (I’m a dork!)

I’m really glad that I was able to enjoy this lunch from Fresh City as well as share it with my coworkers. It’s always nice to be able to share something great with people but I love to have opportunities to get other people’s feedback. This was a great example of that as there were things that I did not like while my coworkers liked them and vice versa. It was helpful to hear their feedback- so thanks Price, Alex, Keller, Rumiko, Kellie and Annie.

I’m hoping that my office will start  to order from Fresh City for catering or that I will have some more seaport area meetings so I can swing by and get a smoothie or some lunch.
