This 4th of July came and went without much fanfare. Typically Price and I spend the long weekend staying on my stepdad’s boat in CT drinking ourselves into a stupor or here drinking our selves into a stupor. Since we had just came back from DC we decided that we would hang out here to relax. Plus our friends Natalie and Jason were coming back from Texas on the 3rd so we turned into a little ‘party‘.
On Saturday morning, Price and I went to Haymarket, which is an outdoor market where you get off the truck produce for the cheap. It can be hit or miss but we lucked out on this trip and ended up some great tomatoes, jalapeno, lettuce, limes, lemons, peaches, and much more. Plus on the way in we saw Stevy from Semi Precious Weapons on the T. More on the later…
Cute little Corona bucket that my mom gave to Pricer. Made drinking so much easier since we had far fewer trips to the fridge.
While I was preparing salsa and guac, Natalie made watermelon mojitos. These were amazing… fresh, light, sweet, and fruity. It was at this point that I realized our 4th was more red, white, and green than red, white, and blue. Whatever it just tasted damn good.
Dinner of grilled veggies, corn, and burgers rounded out our required 4th grilling. More boozing and talking before we retired to the apartment to cool off. While Price and Jason played some Wii I made some vanilla ice cream with peaches. It was alright- not my thing. I really need to work on ice creams… taste tasters: get ready! Our plans to see the fireworks quickly dissolved when Natalie crashed on the Cos. I tried to talk her into going but I quickly crashed. Fireworks on the TV were just fine. Such a great 4th!
With Jason around I tend to skip out on taking photos. So, I have stolen all of these photos from him. He just has a way with photographing food- check out the blog he just started! The only one I took was of Price wearing my new summer hat… dashing.
