Archives for September 2011

Uncharted

September 2, 2011

I think this is the year of concerts for me. I never had time to go to concerts before, but now that I am free from the shackles of college I am able to go more often now. I have seen Ian Axel (twice), Allison Weiss, NKOTBSB, Lenka, and now Sara Bareilles. Each show has been a different experience and I loved each of them for it. Please tell Semi Precious Weapons to back to the East Coast and my year will be complete!

I saw Sara Bareilles this past Tuesday. It all came together from a simple tweet from Amanda. She is now my concert buddy! First NKOTBSB and now this. So great! We first met at Legal Seafood Harborside for some drinks and dinner. The grilled peach salad was perfect, the Purple Jesus cocktail was fantastic, and I don’t think many people noticed me breaking my glass. Whoops!

We walked over the the Pavilion nice and early to enjoy the nice weather and to see both opening acts. First up was Raining Jane and then Joshua Radin. Raining Jane was brand new to me but I had heard for some Joshua Radin before. You might be familiar with “I’d Rather Be With You“.

Sara played a lot of songs from her most recent album, Kaleidoscope Heart, as well as the older Little Voice. Plus she did 2 covers, one of Valerie and of Little Lion Man by Mumford & Sons. She was super chatty between songs which I love, since it really brings shows to life. She swore a lot. It was awesome.

Not bad for a Tuesday night!

The Highline {part deux}

September 1, 2011

How is it September 1st? It’s crazy how the year is speeding by. How was it that I was in NYC a month ago? Crazy! Life has been speeding by lately. I’m grasping at it desperately since days are blurring and pretty soon I will be surrounded by fallen leaves and sipping cider.

Previously blogged about the super fantastic Highline from our first visit back in 2009. That was when the first section just opened. We went back to see the new part that opened this year. It’s a fantastic park that I suggest everyone to see when they are in The City. So if you are going to visiting there soon head over, maybe you can get a glimpse of these summery scenes before it gets too cold!
