It’s Fiesta Time!!!!
Cinco de Mayo marks the day of the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The Mexicans were out numbered 3 to 1 and yet they still beat the French when they were attacked! While there was on and off fighting for the next few years, that victory was a moral booster for all involved and helped sustain their passion to fight.
The day is celebrated throughout Mexico, but primarily in the state of Puebla, and the United States. People celebrate the victory as they see the day as a source of national pride.
