10 Reasons Why You Need a Moms’ Brunch

10 Reasons Why You Need a Moms’ Brunch- fun and practical reasons to get together with your girlfriends to connect & escape your kids. Ha!

Making friends as an adult can be really hard. No longer do you meet other kids at the lunch table and declare them your best friend by the end of the week. Instead, you need to put yourself out there in a crowd and meet someone.

My mom and her best friend met while they were getting their nails done. Both of them were getting their nails done in a bright red, both their (then) husbands disliked it. Clearly, this was something to bond over. They have been friends for over 30 years.

I have the most wonderful best friends that live far away. For one, I see her about 1x a year as we mix things up between us visiting each other in Seattle and Tampa. And another, who I chat with daily, on multiple apps (at the same time), and we have only been together 2x in real life. Friendships come in all different ways so you need to savor them, whenever and wherever you can.

Thankfully I have some absolutely fantastic friends here in Florida.

For the past 2+ years, one such group of 7 friends (now 8!) have been getting together whenever we can. We get together for our kids birthday parties, holidays, and Moms’ Brunch!

It’s amazing to me how some chance meetings have allowed all of us to connect in some great ways. When it comes down to it these are life changing connections. If fact, one of these amazing ladies is donating a kidney to another’s husband later this month. These are the most amazing women I want to surround myself with.

Well, we try really hard to meet the first Sunday of every month. Some month it happens, some month it doesn’t, but at least we try to carve out some time for yourselves and us. When it does happen, we stuff ourselves silly with great food, some strong drinks, and some great conversations.

Find you’re group of woman and have brunch!

10 Reasons Why You Need a Moms’ Brunch

10. You need to have some ‘me’ time.

We all need a break from our kids and spouses (shoot, they need breaks from us nagging them too!). Even if it’s just a few hours.

This is time where you can be yourself. You have your own identity. You are no longer “Mark’s Mommy” or “Abby’s Mom”. Most importantly, you have your own name, and it isn’t “Mom!!!!!”

9. You get to get dressed up.

Put down the yoga pants and the dirty jeans covered with little hand print stains.

Wash you hair. No, really wash it. Put down that can of dry shampoo…

Put on a dress. Get a new top. Have you been eyeing a new romper? Get it! Treat yourself.

8. Get in a picture!

We take pictures of our kids non-stop, but when we are in a picture?!!? And I’m not talking about taking selfies with your kids on your lap. So, it can be pretty rare. Gotta do it for the ‘gram!

And go get a picture framed while you’re at it too.

7. You get to listen to some real music

Screw baby Shark and The Wheels On The Bus!

I suggest doing some homework and finding a place that have some fun live much or a great DJ.

6. Adult conversations!

This is the best part of Mom’s Brunch. You get to talk to other adults without kids around. There are no interruptions while you are listening to a friend. Or, better yet, no interruptions while you are talking.

And you get to bounce ideas off of friends. Get some great feedback about some hairy situations at home or work.

5. You need to eat some great food

I love every bit about Moms’ Brunch!!!

The lack of dishes you need to do. You get to sit down for an hour while a meal. There is no standing at your counter while you shovel a bowl of cereal in before you rush off to something else.

The food is key in this whole experience. Find a great place that you’ll all love. It will be a blast to try out some new places, share dishes, and stuff yourself silly!

My friends and I have had some wonderful brunches at The Oxford Exchange, Fresh Harvest at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and The Hall on Franklin.

Tampa has such a wonderful food scene. We need to have more Moms’ Brunches to try more places.

4. Cheers! You need to enjoy some drinks!

Bring on the Mimosas!!!

Or maybe you want a giant Bloody Mary. Or maybe you prefer an Old Fashion! Whatever you enjoy, order it.

Perhaps you skip the cocktail and get a big fancy coffee. You’ll love that you won’t have to reheat it in the microwave as you keep misplacing it as you clean the kitchen.

No matter what you order, you should definitely take a picture of your beverage. And, it might be somewhat ‘basic’ but you should boomerang your doing “cheers!” with your drinks. It’s fun, be sure to enjoy every bit of it.

*Be sure to have fun but not over do it! Be safe and don’t get behind the wheel if you have too much to drink. Plan out a DD or share an Uber.

3. Celebrate your friendships!

It’s amazing how much time will pass between when you get to see friends, even if you are neighbors. Everyone has really busy lives, so it will be surprising, and yet not surprising at all when you haven’t seen in other in a long time.

Keep the Mom Brunch scheduled in your busy calendar. It’s important to celebrate your friendship all together during your Moms’ Brunch.

2. You get to recharge

This time for yourself is just as important as getting a good night’s sleep. I swear! #fact

And the thing is that you’ll have an easier time getting to brunch than getting a full uninterrupted night’s sleep

You’ll feel recharged and invigorated after brunch.

1. You deserve it!!!

No, no, no! Don’t you dare think about talking yourself out of it. You need your Moms’ Brunch!

Enjoy your time with your friends and on your own.
