It has been rainy here in Florida lately, but that doesn’t mean we are getting by with cooler temps. It just makes things extra hot, humid, and steamy! Plus, it seems like half the country is under some insane heat advisory. The recent heat wave in the PNW was downright crazy.

I have been amassing a nice collection of whiskeys and bourbons lately. Sometimes I just get something that is really rich that is great for simmer. Then, there I times when I look for something a bit more fun to make cocktails with.

I picked up an apple flavored Cooper’s Mark bourbon from ABC Fine Wine and Spirits. ABC is a Florida based liquor store chain that does same day delivery for your orders… WIN!

While it might seem strange to make this cocktail with apple flavored whiskey, it totally works. Trust me! The soft subtle apple flavor balances out the tartness in the lemonade as well as the ginger in the ginger ale.

Now, you can use your favorite whiskey, but you this cocktail encourages you to pick up something different and fun to try something new!

What Whiskey do you use?

I used an apple flavored Cooper’s Mark whiskey (exclusive to ABC Fine Wine and Spirits). You can use whatever you prefer. I don’t suggest using one that is woody/smokey, but one that is on the lighter side.

How to serve this cocktail to a crowd?

You can easily make this cocktail for a crowd by mixing the lemonade and whiskey together in a pitcher. You can also add the apple slices at this time as well. Prior to serving you can add the ginger ale (don’t get it hang out to long or it will go flat!)

Alternatively, you can have a bottle of ginger ale along side the pitcher so people can pour in the ginger ale into their own cut when they are going to pour a glass.
