I had the best family vacation last week on Cape Cod. It was so fun to spend time with my family. Great stretches of time passes before I am really able to hang out with my brother and sister, and their families, for just a few hours (holidays), so getting to spend a week together was a blast.
So going back to work yesterday was a major buzzkill. UGH!!!
Thankfully, I survived the day. Oh, the emails! Oh, the phone calls! Oh, the humanity!!!
I swear it was in part that I gave myself a major pep-talk before setting off for work. And having this kick butt smoothie for breakfast.
Taking the time to make myself (and Price) breakfast on a workday means so much to me. Overall, it really just makes my mornings, and following rest of the day, awesome. Starting the day off with breakfast just makes my mind freer, clearer and I feel more complete for the day. Plus, I don’t get hangry at like 10am!!
This is my latest and greatest creation and I have been loving in. LOVING IT!!! It’s fresh, fruity, and delicious. I love the combination of flavors from the banana, mango, orange, and coconut. It just transports me to the tropics. Much better than reality – sitting at my desk at work!
Some people add priotein powders to their smoothies but I’ve been adding Gac Powder. Never heard of gac? I’m sure most people haven’t! But now is the time to learn all about this subtly fruity tasting awesome powder.
Gac powder is made from Gac fruit, which is a superfruit that is packed full of lycopene, Vitamin C, zeaxanthin, Beta Carotene, and Omega Fatty Acids. Gac is sourced from Southeast Asia, where they are used in traditional dishes and have been used in ancient Chinese medicine for ages and ages.
Ditch the bagel. Ditch the cereal. Grab some fruit, gac powder, and your blender to make this awesome Pacific Rim Sunrise Smoothie. You’ll love it!!
Pacific Rim Sunrise Smoothie
Makes 1 smoothie (appox 24 ounces)
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 1/2 a mango
- 1 orange, peeled
- 1 Tablespoon Coconut Butter
- 1 Cup Coconut Milk Beverage (not the coconut milk from the can!)
- 2 teaspoons Gac Powder
Process
- Combine all of the ingredients into a blender. Process until the smoothie is silky and smooth. Pour into a big glass to enjoy! (I suggest a pint and a half or a quart sized mason jar!)
While I was provided with Gac Powder to create a recipe, all of my opinions about the product are my own and completely honest.

XOI Company is a new Boston based company that specializes in importing Gac Powder directly from the farmers to the customers.
The founders were inspired by the farmers that they met during a research trip to Vietnam where they met farmers who were growing and harvesting the Gac fruit, but struggling with distributing it. XOI has eliminated all the middle men be working directly with the farmers which helps you and the farmers as it mainstreams the process and helps maintain consistent sourcing and exporting.
Adding Gac Powder to your favorite foods, beverages, and facial treatments will help you improve your overall health, while specifically helping your eyesight, immunity, reducing your chance of stroke, and development of infection fighting white blood cells*.
Gac really is a wonderful superfruit when you consider it has:
- 70x more lycopene than tomatoes
- 10x more β-carotene than carrots
- 40x more vitamin C than oranges
- Omega fatty acids and vitamin E
- 40x more zeaxanthin than corn
A serving of gac is just 4 grams so a little bit goes a long way in providing a lot of benefits.
