I had my first crocheting class tonight. I struggled through the whole thing. I just about cried at the begining. I had a rough day so having an hour of almost constant failure got to me.
The teacher was really nice and helpful, even kind enough to say I was getting the hand of it at the end. I drew a line on my hand to help me hold the yarn the right way around my left hand thumb. She thought it was a clever way of ensuring I would grasp it correctly. I felt like the quite kid in the corner who was supposed to glue the Popsicle stick to the paper but glued it to her face in the end.
In the end I sorta completed a granny square.
My homework for next Thursday is to pick a pattern I want to do and get the supplies. Suggestions?
Hey, there!
Crocheting really is a lot of fun. My grandmother taught me when I was young, and believe me, it’s tough to get used to. At least it’s only one needle, instead of two! Knitting is *much* harder to learn.
Maybe, for starts, you should pick out a simple scarf pattern. Scarves are easy, and you can wear it when it’s done! Especially this time of year. 🙂
Hi. Crocheting is very relaxing and calming once you get the hang of it. Since you started with the granny square what have you made since? Do you know that you can make an afghan from the simple granny square? It’s been about 2 months since you wrote your blog about the square and your next project. How did it come out?
Good for you that you found a crochet class (I have yet to find one) and that you’re sticking in there!!
