Project Life 2013: Week 4

March 6, 2013

PL 2013- Week 4_Full Spread

So I am addicted to Pinterest and pinning different Project Life spreads for inspiration. I love getting to see what other people do for their spreads and how they embellish their cards, esp if they are not using a kit. And now I’ve been on the lookout for some cute free printables. I really like the kits that are available but I just have too much stuff to buy more stuff, you know in addition to the Studio Calico kit I get every month. ugh, pretty paper addiction!
Check out what I have been pinning: My Project Life Board

Week 4, Left Side:

PL 2013- Week 4_Left Side

Oh, you don’t document your love of bacon, egg, and cheeses? Whatever, so good. They make me happy so I wanted it in the book. And of course I had to take a picture of the candles I bought with the giftcard for my birthday from my newphews. Slatkin candles are my favorite!

Week 4, Right Side:

PL 2013- Week 4_Right Side

Pretty earrings, poker winnings, a parking ticket, and puppy time! I’ll take all that good for some bad… seriouly, I hate parking tickets!!! Esp $75 ones. At least when I look back at this I will be reminded about how we were dumb and didn’t realize that the great parking spot available was a loading zone. duh!!!

Project Life 2013: Week 3

March 5, 2013

PL 2013- Week 3_Full Spread

I have totally been loving Project Life this year. I am not very far behind- just behind on posting- so everyhting is fresh and new for me to keep up with. Plus I have really been trying to make a point of having fun things in there and to do more to jazz up the cards. It is taking more time than last year but I have been enjoying the process.

So without further ado…

Week 3, Left Side:

PL 2013- Week 3_Left Side

When I was jsut taking the picture of the layout I realized that the ingauration photo was actually from 2009 since Sasha was standing on the box & then I noticed the coats. Thanks Google, so helpful that this is one of the to images for the search ‘Obama Ingauration Day 2013’. Well, I have the correct picture ready to print to I’ll make that swap!

Week 3, Right Side:

PL 2013- Week 3_Right Side

This was the week of my birthday, so this half of the page is focused on documenting that. I put in part of the card from my mom in the lower left pocket. The cupcake in the upper left pocket is from my coworker and behind is some journaling that is hidden. It was kinda really bitchy so I didn’t want that to be the focus of the page so I purposefully hid it. Just glad that this allows me to document lifes up’s and down’s.

Stay tuned for Week 4 tomorrow! 🙂

Project Life 2013: Week 2

February 9, 2013

project life 2013_week 2_full

So it’s snowing. In fact there is a lot of snow coming down now. Nemo has set up shop here and is dumping a ton of snow on us. A TON OF SNOW.

The best thing about the snow is getting to stay in and scrapbook. I’ve really been enjoying standing at my desk pulling out different papers and embellishments working on Project Life and creating new layouts. Unforgettably I did not plan well and have no photos. Crazy right!?!?

Well, either way. Lots of scrapbooking and baking going on this weekend and I love it.

This 2 page layout for Week 2 was fun to put together. Well, everything Project Life related is great but this was really great because I took some more time to create some more embellished inserts.

Puppy Love- Studio Calico 1.20.13 Sunday Sketch

January 30, 2013

This is exactly my kind of sketch!

0120layout

–1.20.13 Sunday Sketch–

Oh, the structure. The grid. The alignment. It all makes me happy! So very happy!!!! I just love all of those things. I love how it all works together and feels connected. I bet I will be keeping this sketch around to refer back to every now and then.

I made some changes to the sketch since I didn’t have 6 photos for the layout so I shuffled things around and put the title in the area where a photo normally would have gone and then some embellishments in another. I didn’t put the title on a pattened paper block because I had the woodgrain alphas that I really wanted to use, since they matched the tone of the patterned papers I was using.

Get ready to see A LOT of doggy based layouts now. We are so excited to get our puppy on Saturday!

Happiness Right Here- Studio Calico 1.13.13 Sunday Sketch

January 29, 2013

at least I like the photo in this layout.

0113LOsketch

–1.13.13 Sunday Sketch–

Not my favorite layout. That’s just the way it is. I liked the sketch but I just was rushing with this and it shows- at least I think so. I still had fun stamping and punching out the clouds.

Happiness Right Here- Layout

I dunno, I shouldn’t bitch about this layout. I had enjoyed making it (quickly) and it was just nice to make something. You can’t get better at something without making a mistake or just not liking everything along the way either. I think the thing that I don’t like is that I used that stamp as the title. Maybe I’ll redo it. Probably not tho. I’m lazy.

At least I got to use up some random scraps of patterned paper punching out the clouds. Thinking positively here. 🙂

Project Life 2013: Cover and Week 1

January 16, 2013

PL 2013_Cover

I reworked my scrapbooking set up recently and it has really inspired me to get back to what I love doing. Clearing off my space and unearthing some really great embellishments, papers and stamps has really got me pumped. For example, I bought a stamp set from Studio Calico right before me moved. I could not find it afterwards so I figured it was an accidental casualty in the big clean when we moved. Well when I found it I did a little dance. I can’t wait to get to use it!!!

I really wish that this past week was not so freaking crazy otherwise I would have gotten both weeks 1 and 2 done in Project Life but at least I got week 1 done and I have quiet a bit of week 2 done. So excited to feel great about taking the time to scrapbook, even if it’s a few minutes each day.

December Daily 2012: Days 11 thru 25

January 13, 2013

decdaily2012_complete

Here I am with an update for my December Daily album!! I shared the first 10 pages so here is the rest of the book. I had originally thought I would do my Dec Daily for the whole month but as I was assembling my book I realized I didn’t make it big enough so I decided to just end it on Christmas. I’m just flexible like that! ha!

I’m really happy with the fact that I completed the mini album. Plus I just love how it looks. I purchased a kit from Kelly Purkey which I used, plus some other alphas and embellishments that I pulled from my stash. I loved the kit, esp the stamp set. I have so many stamps from my SU! days but I rarely stamp now so this was a good jump start to dust off my ink pads.

Happiness Now- Studio Calico 1.6.13 Sunday Sketch

January 8, 2013

Another year you made a promise
another chance to turn it all around
and do not save this for tomorrow
embrace the past and you can live for now
and I will give the world to you

For the past few years whenever I think of new years or a big change this Ian Axel song pops into my head. I’ve seen him perform several times and he is the kind of performer that gives me chills. Might have cried during gone. okay, every time.

Anyway, it’s a new year. It’s time to wipe the slate clean and start over where possible. I did just that this weekend. I reorganized my scrapbooking workstation. I liked it before since everything was at arms reach and I was facing out the room (I don’t like to be startled- I will pee my pants). But it really was taking up way too much room with that configuration so I reworked it and cleaned up my supplies. I’m about 95% done so I’m happy with what I accomplished and how it looks. I even hung up a few pictures. so now I’m feeling inspired and i am going to kick some crafty butt.

Starting things off I did a layout for my take on Studio Calico’s first Sunday Sketch of the new year. I really tried to stick with the Sunday Sketches last year but when we moved things really fell flat on their face. I’m hoping I get further along in the year. Wish me luck.

December Daily 2012- days 1 thru 10

December 13, 2012

DecDaily2012_cover

Here we go again!

Well, last year I had the best intentions for sticking with my December Daily but stopped when I dropped  my Instax Camera in NYC a third of the way through the month. I could have kept going but I wanted to use just the Instax pics for the album and I was super bummed. I liked the look and I liked that it was instant so there is no excuse not to keep up since I didn’t have to worry about printing. Well, then I went and broke the camera and hit a road block. I might go back and just print out pics for the rest of the month incluing the srory about breaking my camera- hense the switch in picture styles, which will forever drive me crazy.

So I got another Instax and have let to break it so the month is going along smoothly. Well, I did drop it at our Christmas Party this past thursday and it’s still kicking so here’s hoping it lasts for the rest of the month and beyond. (But really, what the hell is wrong with me cropping cameras?!) I really love the quirky camera and the pictures from it so I love having the album of just these pictures.

-Day 2-

I am trying to keep things pretty simple with my December Daily by keeping the embellishments minimal. I purchased the DecDaily kit that Kelly Purkey created so I am using all of the papers in the kit, plus a few other solids since I want to continue on past xmas for the whole month. Her kit inlcuded a stamp set, some buttons (2012 on the cover), gold doilies and some alpha stickers. To that I am using lots of washi and some of other embellishments I keep around for winter themed scrapbooking.

I really am jealous of the people that have really beautiful December Daily albums that are loaded with photos, notes, embellishments, and all that jazz but I have to just enjoy that mine is all mine and I am doing things my way, at my pace. If I were to try to tackle more I wouldn’t be done with page 1 so I am savorying that I am 1 third of the way through and I am still enthuastic about it.

‘Zoo’- LO… lions, tigers, and something else, oh my!

November 28, 2012

Ah, as the temperature dips the craftiness increases. It’s nice to kill a whole night r even day by scrapbooking without feeling guilty about missing a great day outside. Clearly, I’m not the only one who feels this way as the ever fabulous Cathy Zielske tweeted this awesome meme. It’s a rif on Game of Thrones and scrapbooking…

I just love this. It totally made my day when I saw this. And yes, it reminded me to order more adhesive.

So getting back in gear with scrapbooking has been a lot of fun. I’ve really been trying to use products I have not used before or in a long time or products in ways I have not used before. It helps me stretch my imagine and use my stash.

My stash of paper and alphas has been getting a tad extreme so be prepared to see layouts using a lot of them as I try to use them creatively. In this case I used 5 pieces of paper to layer on a solid cardstock. The grey and white pieces that look hand drawn were actually patterned rectangles on a piece of patterned paper that I individually cut out, so I guess that brings the papers up to 6 kinds. I finished up a pack of stickers I had as we well as used new brads ad other 3d embellishments. My favorite thing I that I used are the 4 different kinds of Mini Market Alphas that I used to label each photo. I seriously love this alphas from October Afternoon.

bun 2x – Layout

November 14, 2012

Something magical happened on Monday night!

I actually began the process of unearthing my desk and getting to work on some scrapbooking layouts and Project Life. Price wanted to watch the episode of The Walking Dead that he DVR’d and since that scares the bejesus out of me I went upstairs. I had to even put on some peppy FrankMusik so I could drown out the sounds of zombie screams. (Frankmusik’s debut album “Complete Me” always picks me up. It’s been in the car’s CD play since summer of 2009. no joke. Don’t touch it!) So in between instagramming photos of the rabbits, I went through goodies that were piling up on my desk to be used. It was overwhelming but really nice.

Can’t wait to really dive back in and get crafty. Stay tuned!!

Oh So Stylish: Day 7- KP’s Sketchbook 4

October 23, 2012

I am college tired today. Not college finals tired but still pretty god damn tired. Why so tired? The fashion show work. Blah Blah Blah. Just 2 more nights of work and then it’s time to par-tay. I can’t wait for the show and party on Thursday night. Plus I can’t wait for Friday. Last year I was pretty hungover and tired since I got home around 3am so I learned my lesson and took Friday off. I can’t wait to lounge around, clean up, and scrapbook!!!

This was a layout I created based upon the Day 7 sketch from Kelly Purkey’s Sketchbook Class 4 from Studio Calico. There was a large element on the sketch that was a circle. Dang circles and scrapbooking, they always just create a (fun) challenge. I didn’t have photos that worked well to be trimmed to be a circle. Instead my circular element was a die-cut piece of patterned paper. I figured it would work well, plus it didn’t hurt that it had glitter on it! I then decided on using some pictures that I took of my niece this spring. I brought her a big yellow flower headband and took photos of her wearing it and trying to smell it. ahhh!! From there I dove into my stash and grabbed some stickers, washi, die-cuts, and brads and then whipped it all together.

I just need to wrap up my layouts for Days 10, 11, 12. As much as this was a class hosted this spring I have enjoyed taking on the sketches and creating layouts from it on my time. Almost done. 🙂
