I love strawberry season!!! It’s so fun and delicious. Getting to pick strawberries is just loads of fun, but the best part is getting to enjoy all of those juice, ripe berries.
Even better is going to a local farm and picking up a flat of strawberries. Picking them is really fun, but just walking up to grab some picked that morning- can’t beat it!
I’ll get to awesome strawberry goodness in 1 second, but I wanted to give you a little update on what has been going on here recently.
Maybe you noticed that I haven’t been posting too often, but it doesn’t mean that I am any less committed to my blog and my awesome readers. I am just going a lot of behind the scenes work and that takes up a big chunk of time. I only have a pretty limited amount of time to work on my blog (among many other things that I do for work), so things like updating plug ins, changing up graphics, prepping for a new bio, updating my media kit, etc, etc. But the biggest time suck has been updating OLD things on there.
I have been blogging for-ever, but I didn’t take it too seriously for ages. It was just a fun hobby, so I didn’t learn all the correct ways to go things, until I was pretty far along. Then I was feeling too overwhelmed to correct course, so I keep chugging along while I was not progressing myself or my blog. Boo!!!!
But now I am buckling down to fix all the stuff I screwed up along the way. Ya know, all the stuff that the basic reader doesn’t care about or even notice. But the Google Gods care, and I need to make them happy. Otherwise, they don’t think my site is worthy and then when you search for a yummy recipe I have made, I only show up on page 3 of results. Come on guys, you don’t even like to scroll through a blog post for a recipe, there is no way you are going to page 3!! #truth
Besides all the techy stuff, I have been having a blast updating old recipes. From making some favorites over and over again since posting them years ago, I have made minor adjustments here and there. All of that tinkering has made an even better vision for all of you to enjoy. Plus, these old posts have awesome new photos. So much better than the dark photos I would snap after making cupcakes, brownies, or soup at 10pm at night. ha!!
Okay, well, back to the important stuff…
strawberries!!!
While most of the country is freezing their butts off, here in Florida, we are up to our eyeballs in strawberries. I am looking forward to a big strawberry festival that is coming up soon. But, in the mean time, I have been going to a local farm for insanely good strawberries.
You know that scene in Forest Gump when Bubba is talking about shrimp and everything you can make with it. Well, that is me, but with strawberries. My head it always spinning with ideas on how to use up yummy, juice, ripe strawberries. My Pinterest boards are just loaded up with strawberry recipes now. It has been so fun to look all these strawberry
I have seen many a strawberry dessert recipe- duh! And one of the top desserts that I have seen is a strawberry dessert pizza. How fun & delicious! There are sooo many variations that include pizza dough or cookie dough. Some have pudding as a frosting, or Nutella. Some use so much whipped cream! No matter what you do, you know you are going to have a great Strawberry Dessert Pizza.
My Strawberry Dessert Cookie Pizza uses sugar cookie dough that is baked up for the pizza crust. Then apply a liberal helping of cream cheese frosting. Next, I load it up with freshly cut strawberries, Nutella, and slivered almonds. The finishing touch is a wee bit of lemon zest to give it a bit of pazazz.
I hope you really enjoy making this Strawberry Dessert Cookie Pizza! It’s great to bring to a party, like what I did, everyone is going to want to enjoy a slice!

Ingredients
- 1 pound sugar cookie roll
- 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
- 2 Cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract/vanilla bean paste
- 1 pint strawberries, diced
- zest of 1 lemon
- 1/3 Cup Nutella
- Slivered Almonds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. Lay a nonstick baking sheet on the surface of a half sheet pan (13"x18") or a 2/3 sized one (15"x 21")
- Flatten the cookie dough into a 12" dough circle. (Using a pastry mat helps make this process easy)
- Place the cookie dough on the lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 18-21 minutes, until the center is just set. Remove from the oven and let cool.
- While the cookie is cooling, make the cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, until light and fluffy.
- Evenly spread the frosting all over the cookie, leaving a bit of a cookie crust. Sprinkle the strawberries all over the frosting, then zest the lemon directly that.
- Warm the Nutella in the microwave and then drizzle all over the pizza. Finish by sprinkling the almonds on top.
- Cut into wedges and enjoy!
