There are endless fun things to do in Tampa Bay. Going on a Saint Petersburg Mural walk is a fun way to see creative, colorful work by awesome artists.
I love exploring where we live!
Florida is such a great place that has so many activities for everyone of all ages. It feels like we are never more an an hour from some awesome activity, like the beach. a museum, zoo, or theme park. But even then, just strolling around town is so much fun!
We recently loaded up the kids and the dogs to head over to Saint Petersburg (aka St. Pete), about a 45 minute drive from where we live, for a fun afternoon of walking around to check out the beautiful murals that are all over the arts district.
I told Autumn that we were going on a “Saint Petersburg Mural Walk” to get to see different pictures on walls. At that point it was a good reminder to tell her that artists got permission to create art on the buildings, and that it’s not okay to just color on the walls. HAHAHA!
Previously, I had driven through the area before, but it was fun getting to check out the murals. Up close & personal!
I had checked out some sites and blogs to create a game plan before we went to St. Pete for the day. It’s best to have a course of action, especially when you have kids and dogs involved. Before having kids, we would have just winged it, but now, we need to map things out so that we all have a great time.
We geared up for the day with a stocked diaper bag, stroller for Autumn so her little legs wouldn’t get too tired, water and portable water bowl for the dogs, and my Baby K’tan carrier for Hunter. Having Hunter on me in the carrier was the best way for us to get around, and to have him in lots of fun mural pictures.
The ACTIVE Carrier is one of my favorite Baby K’tan carriers as it’s so comfortable to wear in the summer. Since we live in Florida, it feels like it’s the summer for about 90% of the year!
The unique performance sport mesh that helps to wick away sweat and moisture. And my favorite thing is that it over 90% of the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. This is great for young babies as it is suggested to not use sunscreen on babies that are less than 6 months. While Hunter is older than 6 months, I try to limit our sun screen use to only what is necessary, so using the ACTIVE carrier really helps with that.
Soon after we arrived, we went to Three Dog Bakery for a treat for the dogs. Autumn picked out doggy ice cream so they would have a cool treat. Besides it being a yummy treat, it was a great distraction for them while we enjoyed our lunch.
I had checked out the menu at Maple Street Biscuits earlier on in the week and I was hooked looking at their menu. We all love biscuits and this place had some ones that sounded incredible. I ordered the Reinhold for Price, strawberry chocolate chip waffles for Autumn, and a BLT for myself. Hunter would happily enjoy a bit of everything.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a family outing without some kid complaint… Autumn didn’t like the whipped cream on her waffles. Umm what?!!?!?! It is the very same whipped cream that we enjoy on ice cream. Still she had to be whiny about that. <insert parental eye-roll>
After all that delicious food, we continued on our walk on and around First Ave. We then started to venture off First Ave to check out more murals. There are so many on the sides of buildings and in the alleyways. There was something to discover around every turn. Be sure to look up, down, and all around!
Autumn really had a fun to getting to point out the murals that we saw along the way. She also did a great job identifying colors and shapes.
Without a doubt, it was a fantastic day with my family.
Due to all the fun in the sun, the kids passed right out on our way back home. The day’s activities also made the dogs very tired. The car ride home was very quiet.
I would say that our Saint Petersburg Mural Walk was a smashing success!
Our family is already planning the next fun activity that we can do in Tampa Bay.
I am a Brand Ambassador for Baby K’tan, so they sponsored this post. As part of that program, I’ve been invited to share my experiences with their carries and other products. All opinions are my expressly my own.
Nicole, Again a great narrative on one of the many activities you have enjoyed with your family.
