You’ll want to run away with the Super American Circus after watching a fun performance filled with sky high stunts, acrobatics, and death defying acts!
Thank you to Super American Circus for inviting us to enjoy a great afternoon at the circus.
To celebrate Autumn’s 5th birthday, we went to the the circus for an afternoon of high flying fun.
The Super American Circus was in town before setting off on their 2019 tour across the US. They previously sold out their inaugural tour of Hawaii where they left everyone speechless with their high flying acts.
I hadn’t been to a circus in ages so I was very excited to go. Plus, I was thrilled that there were no animals. (I draw a hard line at that and horse-drawn carriages in NYC. Why do people think that is romantic?)
Anyway, Price and I have been fans of America’s Got Talent, so we were very excited to get to see Bello Nock perform live. He had performed on there in Season 12, as well as his daughter, Annaliese Nock. She was also performing in the show, so it was like we were one of the 4 judges, getting to view all that talent in 1 spot!
Before the show began, Bello came out to perform and interact with the crowd sitting along the circus ring. His over the top, full body performance was hilarious. Popcorn was flying and being thrown about as he tossed it into th crowd and ‘tripped’ as he moved around, spilling the popcorn all over. Naughty naughty! You have to keep that ring clean from popcorn!!
It was clear from the start why he was named “America’s Best Clown” by Time Magazine.
The show began with a wonderful musical performance that brought out all of the performers. It was an exciting and up beat way to kick things off.
From there it was one great performance after another! There were death defying acts, silly performances from Bello, artful aerial arts, and death defying things that made you clench your fists with a mixture of fear and excitement. I had to keep catching my breath from all the different acts.
Globe of Death- OMG MY HEART WAS RACING!!! I had to keep covering my eyes. Those motorcycles in that cage! It was fun but crazy to watch at the same time. They just made it look so fun and easy too.
My favorite performance was the one that featured a solo performances on a ring high up in the air. It was so beautiful to watch as the moves were so smooth and artful. Yet, it was also nerve-wracking because the performer was hanging by his feet at times. HIS FEET!!!!
During intermission, the original Bat Mobile came out so that families could take a photo with it. While that was cool, Autumn had so much fun jumping around the bounce house previously, that we headed back over to that. It was great that were were entertaining options for everyone from the bounce house to the face painting (extra fees for both).
Once again, the show grabbed your attention with all of the performances from athletic, and insanely skilled, performers that have toured with Ringling Bros Circus, Cirque Du Soleil, and Big Apple Circus.
Autumn and Hunter really enjoyed the high-wire acts that had silly Bello trying to join with the performers, the theme of the evening. He wasn’t just going to be a clown, he was going to be star performer! And he was!
Bello also stole the show when he was tetter tottering in the air on a these crazy contraption too!
Inside and out of wire mesh circles that spin in the air meant that the performers were up and down and going round and round, but that didn’t stop them from swinging, hoping, hanging upside down, and even jumping rope on there.
Years ago, I went to a trapeze center where you could try it out (a la Sex and the City). And I got up on the platformed and FREAKED OUT. because it was so high and there was no way I could fly on that bar and then transfer to someone flying at my. OMG NO!!!!!! So I admire trapeze artists and anyone who willingly fly through the air because it’s so insanely scary up there. These performers were flying in the air crisscrossing each other from 4 different platforms which is just crazy and 1 of a kind too!
The grande finale was when a performer was shot out of a cannon over a helicopter that had it’s rotors swirling. Whoa!!!
We loved every minute of the show! IT was a great activity for our family and a wonderful way to celebrate Autumn’s 5th birthday!
