Celebrating our birthdays with family in Florida means there’s fun everywhere. My Mom’s 60th birthday celebration was a blast in Orlando. So much food, sun, & fun!
Last month, I had a wonderful weekend celebrating my mom’s 60th Birthday. A weekend full of fun and food. And it was just us girls!
We enjoyed a scrumptious lunch at The Polite Pig in Disney Springs, a fun afternoon hanging in the pool at the Wyndham on I-drive, and then dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville at Universal’s City Walk. We then spent our Sunday enjoying a soulful brunch at Homecomin’ Kitchen in Disney Springs. It was a fantastic way to enjoy this big birthday celebration.
The Polite Pig & Disney Springs
Autumn and I met my mom at Disney Springs to kick off our weekend of fun celebrating her birthday. The Polite Pig was our first planned stop of the weekend for an incredible lunch. It was a great way to start the birthday celebrations. Great
Tucked in the back corner, we could laugh our butts off without disturbing anyone else. And we had a prime spot for watching the action in the kitchen, so we had a great view of all the yummy good coming out. It made us so hungry!
We toasted the start of my mom’s birthday celebration weekend with some awesome cocktails. Be sure to ask about their seasonal slushies because they are so good! My Peach Bourbon Lemonade Slushie was refreshing with a kick.
We couldn’t decide on what to order because everything on their menu sounded so good! Ultimately, we decided on ordering a bunch of some small things so that we could sample more things together. We started with the Hop Salt Pretzel. Autumn basically didn’t want to share it with us because she loved the giant pretzel and the dipping sauces with it.
Then, we chowed down on the Burnt Ends BBQ Meatballs and a salad topped with smoked chicken. We rounded out the lunch with 3 sides- Tomato and Watermelon Salad, Roasted Beets and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Every bite was incredible. My favs were the meatballs and the brussels sprouts.
It was my mom’s first time visiting Disney Springs so we had a great time showing her all around. She really enjoy that you can enjoy an adult believe while walking around. Can’t beat staying cool from the hot Florida sun with a frose in hand! woohoo!!
Autumn enjoyed a mini makeover at Sephora (LOL) while my mom picked up some face masks. Then, we did some browsing in a fav of mine- Sugarboo & Co. Lastly, we spent a lot of time in World of Disney browsing their Halloween things. Plus, we scoped out some things for Autumn’s upcoming birthday. Moms (and grandmas) always need to make a mental note of the things their kids love, so they can go back and get it for them. ha!
The Wyndham on I-Drive
We were full from our lunch at The Polite Pig and had our fun shopping, but it was time to relax at the hotel. We headed over to the Wyndham on I-Drive, just a short drive away from Disney Springs.
The large pool was calling our names once we arrived at the hotel. We quickly got our bathing suits on, ordered drinks at Gatorville Poolside Bar & Grill, and slipped right into the pool. It was a refreshing and relaxing way to spend the rest of out afternoon.
Shortly after getting in our room, we received a surprise knock on our door. It was room service with a fun platter for us to enjoy as part of the birthday celebration. Woohoo!! Autumn was thrilled- I mean, look at her face! So cute! It was the perfect snack to enjoy after swimming around the pool for a few hours.
Dang, that lighting the bathroom was amazing. I mean, I just couldn’t resist a selfie before getting ready for dinner.
Our plan was to go to Universal’s City Walk for some dinner, shopping, and entertainment. Note: While we didn’t use it, the hotel offers shuttles to Universal. This would be a great service to use as parking is $25, before 6pm.
Universal’s City Walk
After some shopping, we enjoyed dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. Sitting on the patio we enjoyed some live music with our dinner. My mom and I both really enjoyed the Fish Tacos. They were really fresh and filling. I would def get them again, and possibly indulge on the mountain of nachos we saw some tables get. Yum!
It didn’t matter that we just finished a great dinner, we couldn’t resist checking out Voodoo Donuts. It’s one of the best donut places I’ve been to. Their bold decor is just as fun as their donuts. Incredible flavors and toppings.
I think late night donuts are a must! My 5 year old is always living her best life. You just can’t beat kicking back in a bunk bed while watching Ratatouille in PJ’s and eating a M&M covered donut.
Homecomin’ Kitchen & Disney Springs
Sunday morning arrived with a beautiful sunrise. It was welcoming us to a great day of celebration! It was my mom’s birthday!!!! We spent the morning relaxing, eating Egg McMuffins, and doing face masks before heading out for brunch.
Before we knew it, it was time to go back to Disney Springs for my mom’s birthday brunch.
We has some time before brunch reservation, so we walked around Disney Springs, checking out more stores. Seeing all the Toy Story toys and costumes in Once Upon a Toy got Autumn really excited about our decision to do Tyo Story costumes for Halloween.
We also checked out the Bibbity Bobbidi Boutique. Autumn has always ooo’d and awww’d at the girls walking around Disney Springs that had the their princess make overs. We got the info to make a reservation so we will celebrate her upcoming birthday with a visit to the boutique. So fun!
We had the pleasure of dining at Homecomin’ Kitchen by Art Smith last year so we were so eager to eat there again. Autumn remembered the Church Lady Deviled Eggs so she was practically begging for me to order them the moment we arrived. Everything you eat has a one of a kind Southern twist to it that Chef Art Smith is known for. We loved every bite of our brunch.
Besides the incredible food, we enjoyed some really wonderful drinks. Of course, I couldn’t resist getting a kick ass Old Fashion. It wasn’t my traditional brunch drink, as I normally enjoy bloody mary’s or mimoas, but I love bourbon.
We barely saved enough room for dessert, but we had to enjoy a slice of cake and sing happy birthday!
Check out my full review of my Hush Puppy Eggs Benedict, and the rest of our brunch, HERE.
I am so grateful for the time we had together celebrating my mom’s birthday. My mom is a 15 year cancer survivor, so every birthday is special, but this milestone one was really momentous. We ate incredible food, enjoyed lounging around a wonderful pool, and did some great shopping. In all, it was a wonderful birthday celebration!
