Chocolate Cherry Dessert Hummus is your delicious summer treat for when you’re craving something sweet but still want to maintain that bikini body! Dig in!!
It feels like summer is never going to end here in FL.
I know that everyone is like “OMG! Pumpkin Spice Lattes are HERE!!!!!” But I’m still trying to keep cool because the daily temps are in the 90’s and heat index temps in the 100’s. I love it because summer is my favorite season, but I also can’t wait to have temps back in the 80’s. Maybe in November? ha!
I certainly won’t be complaining about those temps in the winter when my friends and family from the Northeast are digging their cars out of snow. #sorrynotsorry
There certainly is a trade off for everything. So while I am melting in the summer, I won’t be dealing with snow while living here. And that works for me.
But until it’s actually Fall, lets cool it on all the pumpkin things! I am excited to share some yummy apple recipes really soon (Hello September!) but I am really going to try my best to resist sharing pumpkin recipes until October. It really is bizarre down here at times since I drove by a field recently, and they just planted some tomatoes. Which means I can pick them in October. Shall I post summery tomato recipes then? ha!
Even though summer is “winding down” and you are running to grab your UGGS, I’m sneaking in another summery recipe for you guys.
I love sweet fresh summer cherries, right from the bag or in a delicious recipe like, my recent Fresh Summer Cherry Cobbler recipe! Yum! So it was pretty clear that I needed to incorporate them into these healthy dessert hummus. I was toying around with the idea of making it like a cherry oatmeal cookie, but I really couldn’t get the idea of how great chocolate and cherries are together. Plus, I had just made that awesome Chocolate Dessert Hummus.
We enjoyed this Chocolate Cherry Dessert Hummus with some yummy chocolate animal crackers. Chocolate on chocolate for the win!
Actually, I enjoyed the Chocolate Cherry Dessert Hummus with the animal crackers, while Hunter just dug in with a spoon. And his hands. He was filthy after it, but he really, really enjoyed it!
This Chocolate Cherry Dessert Hummus is a great healthy treat that everyone will love. Plus, I bet they won’t believe it’s actually made with chickpeas. They will be too busy gobbling it up to hear you say it.
- 1 15 ounce can of chickpeas drained, rinsed well
- 2 Tablespoons honey or agave
- 1 Tablespoon tahini
- 1/4 Cup cocoa powder
- 20 fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- 1 Tablespoon water, as needed
- Combine the chick peas, honey, tahini, cocoa powder, and cherries in a large food processor. Blend well, scrape down the sides, and blend again.
- If the hummus is too thick, then add 1/2 teaspoon of water at a time while blending until you have reached your desired consistency.
