Little Miss Bunny Butt LO- Studio Calico 11/14 Sunday Sketch

November 27, 2010

I’ve been a little off this week. Very off on my routine of blog posting. Price and I switched our Bedroom with the Office. It was like a mini moving experience, which of course took longer than I expected. Overall, I love the change and I’m glad that made me realize that I have a lot of scrapbooking stuff. So I will be doing a series of giveways in the next few weeks. woo hoo!

Sketch2

Okay, getting back on track… I did this scrapbooking layout for last week’s Studio Calico Sunday Sketch, but I’m just getting around to posting it now. whoops!

So I had these photos laying around from the summer. Price was brushing Bunny and at some point she accepted she was defeated and let her little tail went down in defeat. Sad on her part, but really adorable. When I saw the sketch I knew this would be perfect for these photos. It’s actaully one snap shot printed 3 times. I’m finally accepting that 1 picture printed multiple times is okay. I actaully really enjoy seeing LO’s with that.

There is a lot going on with this layout, while still being pretty simple. Simple design and implementation but there are a lot of different products used. I used Stampin’ Up! card stock, canvas pieces, butterfly punch, and rhinestone brads; American Crafts Thickers and rub-ons; Tattered Angles Mist; Mister Huey Mist; and some lace that came with Amy Tangerine’s class.

Hipster’s Paradise LO and Studio Calico Weekly Challenge

November 12, 2010

Scrapbooking and Food… 2 of my favorite things.

During my March visit to Philadelphia, I had the most incredible breakfast. I went to Philly to see my friend Dawn, who was my neighbor a few years back in Boston. She took me around the city to see some of the typical sights and to have some fantastic food. You can’t go to Philly without having some cheese steaks! But more importantly we went to Darling’s Diner in the complex she lives in on my last day and I had the most amazing French Toast breakfast called “Hipster’s Paradise”. Clearly I would need to document this breakfast bliss.

I’m hooked on my Studio Calico kits. My Oct and Nov kits are spread out all over the living room floor. (Really surprised Price has not flipped out on my yet from it. Yet…) I was really enjoying playing around with the different possibilities for the background paper. I knew it would be a simple layout with 1 picture so I wanted something fun and bright. I matted the photo on a neutral piece of paper so it would stand apart from the bright background. I painted a chipboard accent with Tim Holtz’s crackle paint and then put the page title on that using white Thickers. The crackle looks much better in person than in my photos/scan, trust me.

In addition to using Studio Calico kit supplies, I decided I would participate in this week’s challenge posted on the SC blog. The challenge was to use Use any packaging material on your layout. I used the packaging from Sassafras’ Paper Whimsies for my journaling spot.

A Happy Visit- Studio Calico 10/31 Sunday Sketch

November 1, 2010

10/31 Sunday Sketch

I’m been struggling with how to manage time now that school is over. I went from a VERY regimented schedule to almost nothing tying me down. Sure I have work but that is ‘just’ 10 hours of my day, previously I had my day preciously scheduled to include a few hours of sleep, then homework, rabbit care, and my morning routine before getting to work, working a full day, then 3-6 hours of class up to 4 nights a week, then homework after class, then some sleep… The point is that I have no idea what to do when I get home- I can read, watch a movie, make dinner, blog at a normal time of day, scrapbook, etc. But this freedom has left me confused and unfocused so I start to dabble in everything, making a mess and getting nothing really done in the process. So I have been trying to develop my own schedule to include nights of scrapbooking, laundry, crocheting, just lounging with TV watching. I’m doing a REAL true test run this week and it started with some scrapbooking on Sunday night.

While I was on the Studio Calico Blog I saw this weeks Sunday Challenge and I decided that I would focus on that. I had just developed a lot of photos so I went through and picked out one that would work with the sketch. Using some Studio Calico kit supplies, I got to work on the layout. I focused on the elements of the sketch and the colors in my photo. This was a pretty quick layout for me. Not perfect but I wanted to keep focused and get it done on Sunday night to see if I could keep my schedule. I punched out some patterned and Stampin’ Up! paper that would compliment the paper I selected in the SC kit. I also used a Sassafras flag banner sticker that I previously picked up from Torendi. I think adding banners to my LO’s is going to be a new addiction. 🙂
