Happy Birthday to Our Amazing Birthday Girl!
I can’t believe that you are already 5 years old! Holy Smokes!
It is cliche to say but it really does seem like just yesterday that you came into our lives. But really, it has all been a whirlwind of fun, craziness, singing, reading, playing, and snuggles. The days are long, but the years are short- so true!
You are so smart. It just amazes me, when you do something for the first time, especially with ease. Like you learned how to ride a 2-wheeler without training wheels in under 30 minutes. You aced it! You talk endlessly so your vocab is fantastic. (yay us for no baby talk!) When we bake you count and add things well. Mixing colors together is your new interest so we talk about that a lot and how to mix things with Red, Blue, and Yellow to create other colors.
The only struggle right now is letter recognition. You can write letters really well, filling pages of them, but you just don’t know what you know just wrote. Daddy and I are trying hard to work through that but you get very frustrated, very quickly.
In general, patience is not your strong suit. You complain that the very short drive to the grocery store is too long. It drives me bonkers. But I am still so glad that I am able to spend my days home with you you now. Even if trips in the car seem endless when they are just 10 minutes or so.
At least you enjoy listening to music in the car. You proclaim most songs are your “favorite” and some are even you “favorite favorite.” It makes me feel so old that you are singing along to the Backstreet Boys now. ha!
Your appetite is endless. It is the funniest thing about you. You can eat and eat during a meal, eating more than me, and then you can request a snack 30 minutes later. Some days we struggle with what I should make because, like other kids, you would just prefer to eat nuggets and fries. I do miss the days of you chowing down on chicken drumsticks and lamb chops, since you are pickier now, but it’s really not top bad. You help me in the kitchen and I think it makes it fun for you to try things. You’re smoothies are out of this world and our “Mix” cookies are addicting too.
So I’ll deal with your days of just asking for waffles 24/7 for the days when you request pho and egg rolls. Like, what 5 year old asks for pho for her birthday dinner?!
Even with you eating nearly nonstop, you are very petite with your skinny little tush tush easily fitting into 3T things. You love to get yourself dressed in very creative outfits, mainly ones that include pants and a dress with a top. And don’t forget the accessories like crowns, necklaces, and clip on earrings. It’s quite the ensemble but it works for your personality.
We will celebrate you and everything you love, like barbies, princesses, all things Disney, and having your nails painted. Your interests are varied, and show how creative, bright, and compassionate you really are. Your imagination is so fun!
I love everything about you, even when I’m nagging you to get your sock and shoes on for the 15th time before we head out for VPK. (will you ever do it on the first time? please?????)
This year will be wonderful because you are wonderful and you deserve nothing but the best.
Love,
Mommy
