Apparently, a lot of food blogs were sorta hacked yesterday and were redirecting their site visitors to porn sites. Fun times!
Thankfully, I am not using the plug-in (website software) that was causing this. Whew! But I know a lot of bloggers were having heart attacks during all this drama. I certainly have plenty of things that give me a semi-regular heart attack, because blogging can be crazy. I’m just thankful that none of those issues were making you guys see any unwanted porn. ha!
So, don’t worry, no porn redirects here, just yummy recipes, fun travel adventures, and silly stories.
Lately, I have been so into cooking. Honestly, it’s not always because I want to, but I’m trying to clean out the pantry and freezer. I have been doing an amazing job at shopping sales and stocking up our fridge, freezers, and pantry full of food. I really try to keep some great kitchen staples like fresh and canned beans, pasta, jarred sauces, baking mixes and tons of fun spices. It helps me stay inspired to try something new and to always have something on hand that I can whip up quickly. I can always pull something out of the freezer to toss in the instant pot or just make a kid staple: mac and cheese.
But things need an overhaul every now and then, and now is the time to clear things out, to start fresh. Plus, my dad has a membership to restaurant depot, so I can’t wait to check that place out to buy a ton of stuff, spend a weekend cooking, and then having a fridge and freezer nice and full of things again. Cooking bliss.
In a recent coking adventure, I pulled out the ice cream maker to make this awesome Homemade Strawberry Sorbet. The kids and I had gone to a local strawberry farm stand and picked up a ton of strawberries. Fresh, picked that morning strawberries!
Whenever we go there, we basically stuffed ourselves silly on strawberries. But even then, I always to freeze a bunch for smoothies and then I do a lot of baking with them too. I’ve also made some awesome strawberries treats like my Strawberry Dessert Cookie Pizza and my The Best Homemade Strawberry Milkshakes. We just can’t say no to strawberries in this house. So, it was a no brainer for me to made this ruby red Homemade Strawberry Sorbet.
This Homemade Strawberry Sorbet is the most inviting red color. The strawberries are nice and fresh so they give the sorbet a deep sweetness. The bit of lemon juice you add to the sorbet helps enhance the sweetness. Sorta like how salt helps bring out the sweetness in desserts. Sprinkling a bit of salt on top when you serve the sorbet helps the flavor pop just a bit more too.
Of course the strawberry sorbet is super refreshing in a bowl, but if you want to really enjoy things then try it in a glass of sparking wine. That is so much fun!
Homemade Strawberry Sorbet is going to be a summertime favorite because you’ll love to cool off with a big scoop of icy cold sorbet.
