Bourbon Hot Fudge Sauce
I think I might like hot fudge more than ice cream. I could eat it with a spoon. And by could, I mean I do… But, can you blame me?
Hot fudge is an irresistible topping to ice cream and other treats like fresh fruit, pretzels, and cake. It’s great as it, but when you spike it with some bourbon, you really take it to the next level.
Hot fudge is ridiculously easy to make because you only need a handful of ingredients and about 10 minutes to make it.
To jazz up your usual hot fudge, I like to add bourbon to make a silky smooth, rich Bourbon Hot Fudge. It gives it a wonderful flavor to make it a bit more sophisticated and elevated.
I like to use a Brown Sugar Bourbon from Heritage Brewing, but you can use brands like Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam, and Knob Creek. I suggest that you use a sweeter bourbon, vs one that is smoky.
As we all know, we all scream for ice cream, but you’ll be yelling over everyone when you say “Gimme more Bourbon Hot Fudge!!!!” Be sure to give yourself an extra drizzle of the hot fudge
Can you get drunk off the Bourbon?
No! The alcohol in the bourbon is burned off in the cooking process. You only enjoy the flavors of the bourbon. Everyone can enjoy this delightful Bourbon Hot Fudge.

Store the hot fudge in an air tight container in your refrigerator for up to a week.
Yummy Ice Cream Recipes to enjoy with hot fudge
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons (packed) dark brown sugar
- 8 ounces bittersweet or semisweet (not unsweetened) chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, brown sugar, and bourbon. Stir until sugar dissolves and cream just starts to boil.
- Remove from heat, add chocolate and vanilla extract, stir until smooth.
- Serve immediately on ice cream or fruit.
Save extra hot fudge in a heat safe, airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to a week. To reheat the sauce, heat in a microwave safe container on DEFROST for 10-20 seconds or warm slowly on the stove top.
