Are you excited to watch the Super Bowl this weekend?
I am, but it’s all about the food for me. My husband will be traveling this weekend so it will just be me and the kids on Sunday and they will be in bed then anyway. So, I’m on my own to stuff my face with a yummy plate of nachos. Or, maybe, I’ll make myself another batch of these delicious Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers.
Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers
Jalapeno Poppers are one of the best bar snacks out there. Personally, I like them more than wings.
Wings are way too much work for me. Too much effort to eat and too messy for the amount of chicken you get from them. But Jalapeno Poppers are my jam! They are spicy, cheesy, and easy to eat!
I love them so much that I wanted to make them even more special by adding bacon to them. These Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers
These Jalapeno Poppers are amazing because they take all the great things about the traditional poppers and then adds yummy bacon! The bacon adds a great meaty, smokiness to them.
Just be sure to use bacon that isn’t too thick. Otherwise it will take too long to cook through, and then then jalapeno and filling will burn. I’ve found that low-sodium bacon tends to be thinner than most bacon, so I like I use that.
I enjoy them on their own, but you can enjoy them with some ranch dressing. Dipping them into the ranch helps cool off the heat from the jalapenos.
When making these delicious poppers, look for large jalapenos so you can easily fill them. If you have small ones, they won’t hold much filling. If that happens to be all that you have, then plan on using more peppers to use up the filling.
You’ll also want to have gloves when you are making these. I made the mistake of making poppers without wearing gloves once, and that was a mistake I only had to make once to learn how much your hands will BURN later on.
Enjoy these Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers with your friends while you party or celebrate watching a great game. And, if you’re like me, you’ll eat way too many so you’ll need to make a double batch so that you have enough to share.
Can I freeze the poppers?
Yep, you can freeze the poppers! This is great so that you can make them in advance. Prepare them, then lay them out on a parchment lined baking sheet, then freeze them. Pop them off the sheet tray and transfer them to a plastic bag or a container. When baking them, add a few extra minutes to cook them through completely.
What kind of bacon should I use?
You don’t want to use a bacon that is too thick. A thick bacon will take too long to cook through and then you’re filling will bubble out by the time the bacon is done. Typically, low-sodium bacon is nice and thin.
