Have you watched Outerbanks on Netflix?
We are and I am hooked on it. It is so suspenseful. It has me stressed out watching it, but I love it.
After that, we will need to dive into some other shows and movies. I’m rewatching Scandal, as it plays in the background while I work. And when I’m not doing that, I’m watch listening to podcasts, like Pod Save America and Irie Lemon.

The Simplest Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
My husband regularly makes this pulled pork in the slow cooker. It is a favorite in our house because it is so simple to make and it’s so delicious.
We watch for sales to snag Pork Butts, aka Boston Butts, when they are on sale so we have dinner, and plenty of leftovers at a great price.

Pulled pork is a great dish to make because it’s so adaptable!
You can easily make a pulled pork sandwich by piling some pulled pork high on a roll or between two slices of thick white bread before you sloppily dive in.
Get creative with leftovers for breakfast by mixing in some of the scrumptious pulled pork into a potato hash. Top that with a runny egg for a great hearty brunch dish.
To start your pulled pork, generously coat the meat with your favorite BBQ spice rub.
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the pork to brown the meat. Rotate the meat so you brown all sides of the pork butt.
After adding it to your slow cooker, add a can of beer, or broth. You can even try using soda, such a Dr Pepper for a sweeter pulled pork.
Let your pork cook all day in the slow cooker so it becomes fall off the bone tender. Shred it with your hands or forks. Remove any fatty pieces as you do that. Mix in just enough BBQ sauce to moisten all of the pulled pork.
When you are enjoying your pulled pork sandwich, be sure to top it off with some extra BBQ sauce and a great slaw. Take a BIG bite and enjoy!

What are the ingredients?
This pulled pork is great because it is just 4 ingredients!
- Pork Butt
- BBQ Rub
- Beer
- BBQ Sauce
Pork Butt or Pork Shoulder
You can use either Pork Butt or Pork Shoulder, but Pork Butt is suggested.
Pork Butt is also known as “Boston Butt”. This is from the upper part of the shoulder and is very tender as it’s marbled with a lot of fat.
If you want to learn more about these cuts of meat, you can learn more about them at Cooks Illustrated.
What BBQ Sauce do you use?
Simply, use whatever BBQ sauce you like. Our favorite is Dinosaur BBQ Sauce. Sweet Baby Ray’s is another great brand.
Want to feel adventurous? Then mix a few together to get a one of a kind blend of sweet and spicy.
