2012 Goals and Wishes

February 2, 2012

I am a planner. I love to plan out events, weekends, vacations… you name it. It is how it gets me through the hum drum of daily life. I get to work and I plan on what I am going to make for dinner and what I am going to do that night. I love countdowns. It has me set my heart on something to look forward to.

Now that doesn’t mean that I don’t get disappointed. I was planned on going to Greece this spring. It was the thing that was getting me through this project phase. It was something fun that Pricer and I were going to be able to experience together. But things get messy and the trip was canceled completely. What was I going to look forward to now? I’m still looking forward to getting to meet and visit Amanda in May… some 91 days from now. But I need more.  I need to know we will have lots of fun things going on this year to look forward to.

I was feeling a little lost with the sudden change in events and the plan B coming into place and all the other things floating around in my head so the other night I insisted we did this:

We just started to rattle off things that we planning and hoping to do this year. Big plans. New goals. Dreams. Trips. Foolish hopes. Fun things. Promises. Silly things. Seeing these things will us develop plans to make them happen.

Some of the things we want to do will come true. And others won’t. But I’m learning that is okay because for everything I don’t do there on the blackboard, there are 2 other fun things that we did instead. It’s all about making it work and having fun.

What are your goals this year? What do you hope to do? What do you already have planned? Are you counting down until then? Please share  them with me!

26 in 26 Mini Book- Progress #1

March 30, 2011

My 25 in 25 list fell flat on it’s face last year. I debated doing a 26 in 26 list this year because of how rough it had started. Thankfully I decided that it would be fun and I would enjoy the challenge in getting all those things done, as well as documenting those accomplishments/milestones.

I decided that a mini book would be best for this process. When I did my 25 in 25 I documented my items all on a 2page LO in my yearly scrapbook. It is great to look at that page to see my goals, but I didn’t have anything to go along with checking them off and documenting meeting my goals. So my mini book idea was born.

The concept behind the book was to have my list of 26 items so I could track my progress, as well as a place to put the photos documenting the things I accomplished. But how oh how would I do this in the book? A list in the very beginning and then the rest of the pages would get filled in? No, that did not seem right. It made the list seem disconnected from the items, as well as repeative since I would clearly need to rewrite my thing with the photo.

So my book was developed to have each item to have a L page and a R page. The goal would be listed at the top of the L page. This would leave the remaining portion of that page for my journaling and the whole R page for photos. I understand that there will be times I will want to change things up if I have more journaling/photos but it’s working for now.

I’m hoping that I really make a better go at accomplishing this list of 26 items than last years 25 things. I will periodically post about my progress of the list, as well as how my book is coming together.

25 things while 25

January 18, 2010

I hope this year brings about positive change, a light heart, joyous moments, and many things learned and lived. I’m happy to be turning 25 today.

I’m totally stealing an idea and scrapbooking layout from Kelly Purkey. Last year she posted 27  for her to do when she turned 27 and she recently posted about how she did on those 27 things.

I’m working on my list of 25 things to do while 25. I’ll finish later and, of course, create a scrapbook layout.

1) Learn to crochet

2) travel to a new state

3) travel to a new country

4) read 2 books a month

5) see a celtics game

6) go on a roadtrip

7) learn to sail on the charles river

8) take a class on making bread

9) organize all my important paperwork

10) scan old family photos (copying what Price did 2 years ago)

11) go on a duckboat ride

12) try to ski (and not break a bone)

13) reach 500 yelp reviews
