Do you ever just have one of those days that really really suck? Yesterday was that day for me. Really bad. Well, let me explain…
I was given a super simple project to work on that was done in an OLD program. Well, it is not that old, but it feels old to me since I had not used it in about 3+ yrs. In that time, there was a new release so when I had to get working on this project on Monday I was struggling. Big time.
First I opened it all wrong so I didn’t have the right tool bars and elements. Then I couldn’t remember the typed commands- since it had been years. I had to do all this super simple work for Tuesday afternoon. Well get what? I missed my deadline since I was so slow struggling to navigate my way through. OMG!!! I DON’T MISS DEADLINES. I just don’t.
Monday and Tuesday sucked and I was so over it when on Wednesday morning. I was inefficient, slow, and frustrate. Basically, I felt really dumb. I had to keep asking for help along the way, which just made me feel really bad for interrupting what my coworkers work flow. How could making these revisions be this overwhelming? When I was drowning in work last year on a project I felt better than having to do this work for a tiny bit.
Obviously, I had a lovely lunch time meltdown and cried at work, then at the Whole Foods buffet bar while venting to Price, and the again outside of Whole Foods. I’m sure it was all lovely to observe. Which is why I ate pie (recipe to come) and had this hot chocolate for dinner. Did a good job of eating my feelings, eh?
So anyway… it was my turn to pick the theme for this week’s Thirsty Thursday. I picked chocolate!!! I decided to specially use bittersweet chocolate. Hot chocolate made with bittersweet chocolate is the best. I know you’re probably thinking that it would be too harsh, but it perfectly offsets the overall richness.
I then topped it with a whipped cream that is a great finishing touch to it. The combination of chocolate and orange is wonderful together so I added a bit of orange zest to the heavy whipping cream. It just takes this whole Italian Hot Chocolate to another level.
Instead of making a drink, Amanda decided to make something that would pair well with my Italian Hot Chocolate. Her Everyday Chocolate Cake is the perfect match! It’s light, airy, sweet, and just chocolaty enough to feel like a treat, but it’s just right so that you don’t feel like you are over doing it. It really is perfect for every day enjoyment.
Get cozy, make up a batch of hot chocolate, grab a slice of cake and just enjoy the afternoon slip away while you enjoy them with a good book.
