Garden Girl LO- Studio Calico 12/5 Sunday Sketch

December 28, 2010

I’m playing catch up with the Studio Calico Sunday Sketches. At this point I just want to do them because they are so cute and inspiring. So I don’t want to brush them aside and move on, which is why I am posting from a layout from a few weeks back.

This layout is of a picture I took of Bunny when I had her outside this past spring. I knew this would be a good layout for this picture because I wanted the picture to stand on its own without a lot of journaling. And in the end it didn’t have any!

The embellishments I used are Entwined Blooms from Sassafras. They, along with the patterned paper, and letter stickers, arrived in my monthly Studio Calico kit. The piece where I put the title is a piece of packaging from Sassafras. I just love their packaging because they actually design it instead of leaving it blank.

Stomp! LO- Studio Calico 11/21 Sunday Sketch

November 30, 2010

Blog post take 2…

My first post was lost when my internet crapped out when there was a Comcast glitch on Sunday night. And then I spent Monday night doing blog edits hoping that some fairy god mother would jsut gift me a new customized blog. No luck there.

Anyway, I have finally posted my interpretation of Studio Calico’s Sunday sketch from last week. As usual, I like the blog’s Sunday Sketches since it is fun form of self imposed homework. How can I not like crafty homework? Completing it makes me feel like I am getting things done- 1) the sketch activity 2) another layout in my scrapbook.

I liked this sketch because it emphasized the journaling portion of the page. Since taking Elizabeth Kartchner’s recent online class I have been trying to focus more on capturing the story behind the photos.

All supplies from the October and November Studio Calico Main Kits.

Little Miss Bunny Butt LO- Studio Calico 11/14 Sunday Sketch

November 27, 2010

I’ve been a little off this week. Very off on my routine of blog posting. Price and I switched our Bedroom with the Office. It was like a mini moving experience, which of course took longer than I expected. Overall, I love the change and I’m glad that made me realize that I have a lot of scrapbooking stuff. So I will be doing a series of giveways in the next few weeks. woo hoo!

Sketch2

Okay, getting back on track… I did this scrapbooking layout for last week’s Studio Calico Sunday Sketch, but I’m just getting around to posting it now. whoops!

So I had these photos laying around from the summer. Price was brushing Bunny and at some point she accepted she was defeated and let her little tail went down in defeat. Sad on her part, but really adorable. When I saw the sketch I knew this would be perfect for these photos. It’s actaully one snap shot printed 3 times. I’m finally accepting that 1 picture printed multiple times is okay. I actaully really enjoy seeing LO’s with that.

There is a lot going on with this layout, while still being pretty simple. Simple design and implementation but there are a lot of different products used. I used Stampin’ Up! card stock, canvas pieces, butterfly punch, and rhinestone brads; American Crafts Thickers and rub-ons; Tattered Angles Mist; Mister Huey Mist; and some lace that came with Amy Tangerine’s class.

I’m a Muggle- Studio Calico 11/7 Sunday Sketch

November 8, 2010

I’m kinda hooked on Studio Calico and everything related to it. I was hesitant to join since I generally think kits are limiting but looking through the past kits and all the fantastic layouts in the member and design team galleries made me see that the kits were a fan way of 1) getting new supplies 2) being involved in a large online scrapbooking community 3) keeping on top of all the scrapbooking I want/need to do.

11/8 Sunday Sketch

With a monthly kit arriving I would have access to patterned and solid papers, clear rubber stamps, alphabet letters, and embelishments, including chipboard pieces, die cut accents, washi tape, etc. The themes and variety is a lot of fun. But, that is just the main kit! There are add-on kits that you can pick from as well. My budget is not including them right now but I’m still having a blast with the main kit. Plus I have discovered their Sunday Sketch on the Studio Calico blog.

I had fun with this week’s sketch. I had soooo much fun pulling things from the kit and my overall stash. I loved the creamy colored paper from the October “On The Easel” kit so I used that as my background and I pulled the striped paper from the kit as well. I loved the paper’s colors since they went well with the colors in my glasses. The white alphabet letter were also from the kit and I chose them since the white matched the ‘Muggle’ on my shirt. Then the rest is a mix of random trimmings and other things, such as the Indie Girl Flag Banner Stickers and some papers from the Count Me in Wee Bundle I got from Torendi. I sprayed my test strips with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I’m not sure where the pink letters were picked up from, but the rest was from Stampin’ Up!

A Happy Visit- Studio Calico 10/31 Sunday Sketch

November 1, 2010

10/31 Sunday Sketch

I’m been struggling with how to manage time now that school is over. I went from a VERY regimented schedule to almost nothing tying me down. Sure I have work but that is ‘just’ 10 hours of my day, previously I had my day preciously scheduled to include a few hours of sleep, then homework, rabbit care, and my morning routine before getting to work, working a full day, then 3-6 hours of class up to 4 nights a week, then homework after class, then some sleep… The point is that I have no idea what to do when I get home- I can read, watch a movie, make dinner, blog at a normal time of day, scrapbook, etc. But this freedom has left me confused and unfocused so I start to dabble in everything, making a mess and getting nothing really done in the process. So I have been trying to develop my own schedule to include nights of scrapbooking, laundry, crocheting, just lounging with TV watching. I’m doing a REAL true test run this week and it started with some scrapbooking on Sunday night.

While I was on the Studio Calico Blog I saw this weeks Sunday Challenge and I decided that I would focus on that. I had just developed a lot of photos so I went through and picked out one that would work with the sketch. Using some Studio Calico kit supplies, I got to work on the layout. I focused on the elements of the sketch and the colors in my photo. This was a pretty quick layout for me. Not perfect but I wanted to keep focused and get it done on Sunday night to see if I could keep my schedule. I punched out some patterned and Stampin’ Up! paper that would compliment the paper I selected in the SC kit. I also used a Sassafras flag banner sticker that I previously picked up from Torendi. I think adding banners to my LO’s is going to be a new addiction. 🙂
