Happy Birthday Price (recap)

September 23, 2010

Yesterday was Price’s 28th birthday!

My original plan was to try to leave really early so we could see The Town at the 2pm show. Well things did not work out but I think it was for the best…So Price went on a job interview in the morning and GOT THE JOB!!!! So we had to celebrate his birthday and a new job in the same day! So off to dinner we went…

I met Price at the bar at Fugakyu, a local sushi place. It’s pretty cute that he picked this place weeks ago because when I got my current job 4 years ago he took me out there to celebrate. We ended up getting drinks and recapping the day at the bar.

I first started with a Cocoa Cobana drink and then saw the bartender makinga Lychee Martini so I went with that, and another, and then another.

We started with Edamame and Shrimp Tempura. Normally we stick to just edamame  but I skipped lunch and we hardly ever come to Fugakyu since it’s a little more pricery than other places so we figured we might as well go all out for so much celebrating.

We shared a Pine-tato Roll (Fried sweet potato & grilled pineapple) to try something new. And Price got his usual Tekka Maki and Crazy Maki (Shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, spicy mayo, scallion & eel sauce).

I got a Philadelphia Roll (Smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber & scallion) which is kinda a big deal since I don’t like Salmon. At all. But I figured I should try something new since I didn’t like tomatoes or avocados a few years ago and now I love both of them. In the end I liked it but I probably won’t order again for awhile. But I also got a Jalapeño Tuna Maki (Tuna, jalapeno pepper, onion, avocado, pickled daikon radish & black sesame). That might be a new favorite.

We had such a great time cracking up at jokes, discussing the new waiter (he did a good job), talking about first day of fall and the full moon (first time since ’91), and everything in between.

Since I didn’t make a cake we went to Finale to get a little something. Which I think worked out fine since we were sooooo stuffed from sushi. But Price did pick out a cake and I am going to make it on Monday as a New Job Cake.

Love you Pricer!!!

Happy Birthday Mom!

September 8, 2010

Happy Birthday Mom!!!!

Okay so this photo is from last year but I love it. Plus I was stupid and forgot to take photos while we were out at dinner. So I only have a few shots from when we were doing presents. I’m lame. But, again, I love this photo. This was from my Mom’s big 50th birthday bash. So that should count!

Have a fantastic year full of laughter, great memories, quite moments, strong drinks, books you can’t put down, beautiful sunsets, sloppy dog kisses, great food, lots of knitting, clear blue skies, brightly colored scrubs, dogs that sleep in, time to relax, and whatever else you can imagine!!!! I love you!!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!

August 22, 2010

Today is my Dad’s 70th Birthday.

My brother, Me, and our Dad

Last night we had a little party for him at the boat club. I love to cook so I took on the responsibility of the dinner for the 10 11 of us. I planned grilled chicken with roasted veggies and a salad. Robin, my dad’s girlfriend, brought the appetizer- muscles and garlic bread. I also made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. He told me her had a slice for breakfast today. I think that is a perfect start to any day, let alone your birthday.

It was nice to be able to make something for everyone to enjoy, even though I had to do 3 trips to the food store that day. (sigh) It all came together and we had a great time.

Happy Birthday Dad.

Oh happy day

January 19, 2010

I celebrated my 25th birthday with

a beautiful flower (gifted in a flour sifter) at my desk from Helen

maple layer cake with maple buttercream frosting from Julie, plus she gave me the cutest bunny earrings from Figs and Ginger

pizza with price

This has become a tradition for my birthday. It’s the fifth year making pizza together on my birthday. We make pizza at other times during the year but we have to do it on my birthday… it just would not be my birthday without it. I have the same toppings on my pizza every time, pineapple and jalapenos, but this time pricer also got some ham to make it a real hawaiian pizza. I think this was our best pizza yet.

and

flan cake from kellie that we ate before I remembered to take a picture! Damn!!!

Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday and for making it so great.

25 things while 25

January 18, 2010

I hope this year brings about positive change, a light heart, joyous moments, and many things learned and lived. I’m happy to be turning 25 today.

I’m totally stealing an idea and scrapbooking layout from Kelly Purkey. Last year she posted 27  for her to do when she turned 27 and she recently posted about how she did on those 27 things.

I’m working on my list of 25 things to do while 25. I’ll finish later and, of course, create a scrapbook layout.

1) Learn to crochet

2) travel to a new state

3) travel to a new country

4) read 2 books a month

5) see a celtics game

6) go on a roadtrip

7) learn to sail on the charles river

8) take a class on making bread

9) organize all my important paperwork

10) scan old family photos (copying what Price did 2 years ago)

11) go on a duckboat ride

12) try to ski (and not break a bone)

13) reach 500 yelp reviews

Suggestions??

I’m scrappy

January 11, 2010

I spent yesterday scrapbooking and I loved it. I have been feeling so out of it since my stuff took over the office and there was not a free square inch on either desk. I cleaned up this morning and got to scrapbooking. I have a few pages that I needed to finish or completely start, plus I decided that I would scrap together all the Christmas cards we got this year. I always feel bad that we chuck them at the end of the year. It just seems so wrong since people spend money on them or take the time to take amazing photos for their Christmas cards. I’m still working on that since I want to add in more journaling and photos from the hoidays- I’ll post this later on.

My 22nd Birthday

It seems fitting to have this since my 25th birthday is 1 week away. Maybe I’ll scrapbook that sooner than almost 3 years later!

I’m on a boat! I’m on a Boat!

July 14, 2009

This weekend started with Price and I finishing the first disc (episodes 1-3)  of the second season of Big Love. I love Netflix and Big Love! We love to hate Nicki and we think Rhonda is amazing! In the midst of all the Big Love watching I made a cake for my stepdad’s birthday.  I made a double batch of “Over The Top” Chocolate Layer Cake and Classic Chocolate Buttercream from my favorite baking book. I have made some tweaks to the recipes because I have a convection oven but it is a fantastic book.

Saturday morning we drove to the boat. I love driving in the summer- windows down all the way! It makes me miss my jeep and driving around town with the top down. I held the cake the whole way because it started to slide in the case. (Note to self- put some frosting down first then cake to ‘glue’ it to the bottom.)

The dock had organized a lobster bake that consisted of pot luck sides and over 40 lobsters. Once dinner was over I brought out the cake and we all sang Happy Birthday to Richard. While eating dinner I was talking to a genius of a woman who said that essentially the marina is like an expensive trailer park. Genius! Just genius.  She is right. Instead of trailers people have boats that they sit out on while you watch a fat man running around without his shirt on, people getting drunk (mid-day), kids screaming and running around, etc. Not to mention my need to watch NASCAR on the back of it. Oh how I love night races on the boat…. While I love being at the boat I will never look at it the same again because of her. Thank you!

Sunday wrapped up the weekend with some outlet shopping (yay new JCrew dress and flippy floppies) and our trip back to Boston. While I should have been doing laundry and food shopping we opted to watch Role Models instead. I love Ronnie. That little kid had a great delivery. Must watch.

Song of the weekend: “I’m on Boat” (feat T Pain)
