Kemper’s Fun Time Favorite Things

September 8, 2014

Kurgo dog-1

Dogs are like babies. They require a lot of stuff.

From the crate to the bed, the toys to the clothes, the food to the treats. ALL OF IT!!

Kurgo dog-2 Kurgo dog-3

Between our stuff, the baby’s stuff, and Kemper’s stuff it feels like our house is overflowing with things. Well, it doesn’t ‘feel like it’, it is overflowing with stuff as we’ve begun storing some things at Price’s mom’s house. Such a relief.

That being said, everything we buy for Kemper has to be affordable, small, durable, and provide a solution to a real problem. We even factor those things into his toys, esp when he has been known to rip up a new toy within 5 minutes of giving it to him. Ropes are a pretty good buy, but stuffed animals last just a few minutes so that’s not very economical or safe.

So we have been very careful with recent buys as we want things to last and be purposeful. Thankfully, we have found a great brand that works for us. Price first purchased a car seat protector from Kurgo and then we discovered more and more great things from them.

Kurgo dog-4

This Wander Pail from Kurgo is a great storage solution for travel or weekend stay’s with Kemper’s dog sitter. We used it while we were camping as it has a storage part and a bowl part, which makes it compact and really useful as we don’t have to bring 2 things with us, just this one thing.

But how much does it hold? Of course, I tested it!

We weigh Kemper’s meals as he can gain/loose weight quickly. Plus his mischievous ‘sister’ Autumn likes to throw food at him from her high chair. So we monitor it closely by weighing out his meals… 75 grams to be exact!

Kurgo dog-6 Kurgo dog-7

So I tared the scale. And then measured out one meal.

Kurgo dog-8 Kurgo dog-9

And another. And another! That makes for 3 meals in the storage container.

Kurgo dog-10 Kurgo dog-11

Then the serving bowl portion goes on. And another meal is measured out!

The Wander Pail can hold 4 meals for Kemper which is GREAT for a weekend away making it perfect for Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast. If you need a container to hold more food then be sure to get the Kibble Carrier as it holds 64 oz of food! Plus it has a food bowl too. That would hold 12 days of food for our monster! (Which would work perfectly for when we go on our cruise in January and he stays with our amazing dog walker…)

Kurgo dog-5

Kemper really enjoyed using his Wander Pail while we were camping. And we enjoyed using as well since it was compact for our trip and was very easy to clean when we got back home as it is dishwasher safe.

Kurgo dog-14

We also brought this Atomic Drop Treat Bag with us that is great to have on long walks, hikes, and trips to the dog park. It definitely has gotten a lot of use this summer as we have been enjoying the nice summer nights as we take 2 1/2 mile walks around town saying ‘hi’ to our local firefighters and muttering swears under our breath at the hills in town.

Kurgo dog-15

Please?? Can I please have a treat!?!?!

Kurgo dog-16

Plus now my pockets don’t stink like dog treats. And I don’t find random pieces of dried chicken in my coat pockets either. And if we are at the dog park I can leave this with the stroller outside the fence so that all the other dogs don’t try to sniff my pocket (and nearby crotch region) smelling the treats that we brought for Kemper.

The Atomic Drop Treat Bag keeps treats fresh, secure, and right at hand. You can hang it to your waist band or clip it to your belt loop or the leash loop/handle with it’s carabineer. Plus it has a tiny zipper pouch which is just big enough for storing some money and your keys. This is compact but very efficient.

Kurgo dog-17

Awww, are you tired after camping?

This car seat cover has been a real life saver for our new car! LIFE SAVER! Well, seat saver… but you get my point!

Kurgo dog-18

We always took care of our first car but being that it had fabric seats we could beat up a bit more than our new Rav4’s leather seats. First I was afraid of his nails damaging the seats, and then the dirt. Oh, so much dirt! Kemper gets filthy after we visit his favorite dog park, trail, park, or the beach. The sand! The dirt! The mud! Oh my!

We selected the Shorty Bench Seat Cover as Kemper is not one to lean against or jump up to place his paws on the seat back. If your dog might do then I’d suggest getting the Kurgo Bench Seat Cover as it fully extends up the seat back.

So far, everything we’ve received from Kurgo has been a big WIN for us. I think our next purchase will be a new harness as Kemper tore part of his current one that, surprisingly, has last for a year. Seriously, he destroys EVERYTHING.

Kurgo provided us with the Wander Pail and the Treat Bag, but we purchased the car seat protector ourselves, to try and review. All opinions are my own.

Happy 1st Birthday Kemper!!

December 10, 2013

Today is Kemper’s first birthday.

Our little puppy babe is a year old and I can’t believe it.

Kemper First Birthday

Here he is on Thanksgiving.

Might just be me, but he is looking pretty adorable here.

I think he needs a little treat this weekend since I didn’t get my act together today. Well, that might just have to do with our newest little baby. But I think Kemper won’t mind the delay since he is being such a good sport with Autumn here now.

Kemper_130313

There should be a new Thirsty Thursday post up today.

But Amanda is taking a much deserved blogging break and the thought of sitting at the computer last night to finish up my post was just too overwhelming. So I’m skipiping it this week. oh wells.

Instead I bring you a picture of Kemper that I took yesterday at lunch.  His ears are killing me!

enjoy. Happy Thursday.

PS- Happy Birthday to Rachel of Baked by Rachel! Hope my fellow Wattamelon Roll lover has a great day!

Kemper Running

yep. just a series photos of our puppy running.

I took these on Sunday during our walk. I can’t keep from looking at them and cracking up at our little man’s stone cold face running down the sidewalk. He is such a good pup and I can’t stop loving on him.

3 weeks of Kemper

February 23, 2013

130223_Kemper Sitting

today

As of today we’ve had our Boston Terrier puppy Kemper for 3 weeks. We just love our little man. Our little gentlemen.

napping our on first day as a family

It’s crazy to think it has only been 3 weeks as it seems like he has been with us forever. He has just blended into the routine. Well, I guess we are all just merging into 1 routine together.

130206_Kemper 01

2.6.13= 8 weeks, 3 days

On 2/8 he weighed 4.8 lbs and he has grown so much since that I can’t wait to get him weighed at his next vet visit on the 7th.

130206_Kemper Sleeping

At first he was afraid of the hardwood floors and would sit on the living rug and whimper at the edge. Now he is a pro running around but he had to survive that scary first trip across the floor to the kitchen rug.

130208_Kemper Snow 130209_kemper in the snow

Blizzard Nemo

So far it has snowed 2x since we got him and he does not like it when it is snowing. Once the snow has hardened he is okay with it but getting him to go out in the snow… fat chance. It is going to snow tonight so I am hoping he will learn it is not scary and we will have less accidents when he pees right next to the pads… shm.

130210_Kemper

Emily gave Kemper this amazing blanket that she knit. We wrap him up like a burrito in it and he loves it. He loves to be wrapped up and tucked in when sleeping. The first night we had him he whimpered a bit in his pen in our room but I wrapped him up and he fell asleep quickly. He was from a large litter so we think he likes to feel weight/pressure on him since they would all pig pile up when sleeping.

Kiss!!!

130212_Kemper Sleeping

He has silent but deadly farts. And he generally does them on when he is sitting or sleeping on your lap. Lovely.

One night he got a hair/dust ball  and thew up on the rug. Of course right on the white part of the rug. Twice. After that he felt 100% and ran around like crazy trying to attack the paper towels I was using to clean the rug.

130214_Kemper Valentine

What a cute Valentine!!

130215_Kemper At Work 130215_Kemper in my Coat

On the 15th I snuck Kemper into my office building by putting him in my coat. He did really well with everyone. I love the picture of him sitting between my coworker Jake’s feet. Everyone put full on baby voice when they saw him- so hilarious. I had to keep an eye on him since a few of them were joking around that they were going to steal him. 🙂 When Price came in from his office Kemper recognized him and was so excited to see him. Aww!!

When we all left my office we walked to the bus and he got over his lease issues. Prior to that he would not move more than few feet when on leash. I was excited to see him doing well and how people were reacting him him. People were oohing and awning as they watch him walking and running in that little lumberjack coat.

130219_Kemper Cuddles

oh, he just loves the cuddles

130221_Kemper at Stairs

Price took this photo of him on the morning of the 21st. I can’t get over how little he looks, and yet how much he has grown. He can make it up the stairs all by himself, but, thankfully, has not yet learned how to make it down. We have moved the baby gate we used for the rabbits

130222_Kemper at Price's office_01 130222_Kemper at Price's office_02

Price took Kemper into work yesterday and was a huge hit with everyone there as well.. He went all around and was super friendly with everyone. Kemps even sat on one of his coworker’s desk and would watch Price from there.

130222_Kemper Sleeping

10 weeks, 5 days old

At this point Kemper is starting to understand the work “Sit”. I say it all the time and give him a teeny tiny piece of an all natural biscuit when he plops his butt right now. He doesn’t listen to it as often when Price says it, but he has been good about altering him that he needs to go out but walking over to the door and sitting down there. Seriously, genius.

Playing around this morning

Can’t wait to for him to keep going and learning more and more.

Meet Kemper

February 4, 2013

Kemper dog

Normally, I’d have a Monday Munchies post today but I wanted to share all about Kemper instead. I could not resist!!

Kemper is our new Boston Terrier puppy. I am over the moon in love with him. Seriously, too sweet, too cute, and just so adorable.

We picked up our little 8 week old from the breeder on Saturday afternoon.

kemper eating_01 kemper eating_02

We finalized last week’s decision when we picked him out when he came over to Pricer sitting on the floor when the other 2 were so determined on going wherever they pleased. While the other 2 had great spirit we picked mister mellow.

Kemper in the car_01 Kemper in the car_02

I snuggled up with him on the ride to Petsmart. We got him some little things like a shirt and coat to keep him warm.

Kemper wrapped up

He loves being wrapped up or covered up in the blanket that Emily made him.

kemper playing

He got settled quickly and was playful in the afternoon.

Squee!!!

Kemper burrito_01

And then did a good job sleeping.

Kemper burrito_02

A really good job.

He slept well at night as well. We did a last trip out at night and made him run around like crazy so he would get tired out. Now, ‘run around like crazy’ means runs about 80′ total in the little yard in the front. ha! He slept from 12.15- 6.45. Yeah, he was really tired from an excited first day!

Price had Kemper all to himself yesterday as I was at work so I could get some work done as I’m out most of this week with the pup. He did well and moved around a lot, even making it up and down our driveway “hill”, ate well, and took plenty of naps.

kemper_01 kemper_02

He also slept well last night only getting up once at 12.35. Even then he calmed down quickly after I tucked him back in and gave him some pats on the back.

Well, so far so good. He met the rabbits and Jack seemed more welcoming than Bunny as Jack smelled him and Bunny thumped to show she was not happy with his presence. Kemper just had no idea what was going on as he never saw rabbits before, esp ones bigger than him. ha!

He is dozing in his crate now so I think I might get some scrapbooking done before taking him out again, and again.

Puppy Time!!!!!

December 30, 2012

boston terrier puppies_06   Price and I have been talking about getting a dog for a while. Most of the conversations have been big picture convos like ‘oh wouldn’t it be fun to have a dog bring on this hike?!?’ or ‘look at this puppy! we should get one soon.’ Things started to get more real once we bought our house since we would not have to worry about a puppy in a 1-bedroom rental with lots of attached neighbors above and below.

boston terrier puppies_01

boston terrier puppies_08

So things really started to come together within the last 2 months as we narrowed down breeds that we liked. We really wanted to get a French Bulldog but their 2K+ price tag was not going to allow that. In the end we decided on getting a Boston Terrier because of their size, temperament, grooming needs, and their overall adorableness. I found a reputable local breeder that had puppies born on December 10th, meaning the puppies would be available to take home in February… SQUEEE!!!

boston terrier puppies_04

Well, we went to meet the 3 week old puppies yesterday. O.M.G!!! So cute. We got to see all 9 Boston Terrier puppies, as well as some pug and french bulldog puppies. The big mama had 6 females and 3 males so we had plenty of pups to snuggle with.

boston terrier puppies_02

boston terrier puppies_03 boston terrier puppies_05

In the end we put a deposit down for a male. We were the first ones there so we have first pick of which male to take home. We have the opportunity to come hang with them again before we take one home so we’ll have to see how their personalities develop. Plus it will be fun to see them grow over time. I just can’t wait!!!!

boston terrier puppies_07

The best is that when we came home our clothes still had that great puppy smell to them. I am a total sucker for that.

boston terrier puppies_09

More cute updates to come!!
