10.10.10

October 10, 2010

There was nothing really signifigant about today. Just another day but still really enjoyable.

1. Price and I nursed massive hangovers from our amazing Saturday night out. We saw The Dirty Pearls, Lady Starlight, and Semi Precious Weapons. Can’t get enough of SPW- it was my 3rd show in about year.

2. Gatorade is amazing and a life saver.

3. We napped on and off for 5 hours. It was fantastic.

4. The Giants won!!! I managed to stay awake for that game!

5. We listened to early 90’s rap this afternoon. Like When I Dip, You Dip, We Dip by 2 Live Crew, Tootsee Roll by 69 Boyz, Fantastic Voyage by Coolio, and Motown Philly by BoyIIMen.

6. We ate dessert before dinner. (Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream to be posted soon) We ate Trader Joe’s Roasted Poblano Peppers for dinner- which took 2x the amount of time to cook than what the box said. Weird.

7. I made 2 loaves of banana oatmeal bread. The house smells so good because of them.

8. We have so many appliances running now that we have all the lights off. Can’t risk blowing a fuse, just too much work to flip it.

9. The 4th load of laundry is going right now.

10. Not excited for tomorrow since I don’t have it off. boo…

3.30am

September 16, 2010

Sunday night

Monday night

Tuesday night

Wednesday night

Every night I woke up during the night around 3.30. I hardly ever, make that never, wake up in the middle of the night. But this week was different and I am not pleased. First I was having a hard time falling asleep. Then I would have really vivid wild dreams. The dreams actually started during a nap on Saturday. Either way these are not the butterfly and rainbow dreams. These are the wake up in a start kind of dreams going ‘ WTF???’

So, lets take last night… I go to bed  around 11.30 and lay there and lay there and you get the picture. Finally I fall asleep and sure enough wake up in the middle of the night. Look at my alarm clock and, big surprise, it’s 3.30. I was not hot, cold, tangled in sheets, uncovered, didn’t have to pee, no bad dream at that point… nothing really to wake me up. So I lay there willing myself back to sleep, all while checking the clock… 3.45 then 4.00 then 4.15 then 4.30. I feel back a sleep after than just to wake up at 5.15 to start my day.

I think of is because my Pricer is not here this week, a busy week at work, the chaos that was our apartment (was finished last night!! Pics to come), and the change in season. Well I can’t fix all of those things but the 1 thing I can do is try unisom for the first time ever and hope that I make it past 3.30. So I’m off to bed before 8.30 hoping to get some real sleep tonight.

Weekend Recap

September 13, 2010

I would have to say this weekend was a sucess. I had a great time with pricer before he left for another week. Plus I got do a bunch of fun things.

Starting with Friday night… We originally talked about going to see The American but the movie times didn’t work for is since we planned on making calzones for dinner. (I got up early on Friday morning to make the dough. It was the first time ever and I’ll be doing it again and again now. I could see the difference from the store bought kinds.) So we stayed in to have calzones and watch Date Night. I cracked up throughout the whole movie.

Then we took a walk into Coolidge Corner for frozen yogurt. I got my usual, mango/plain swirl with blackberries, kiwi, starwberries, but this time I got some mango too. Price got banana/chocolate swirl with some chocolate toppings.

On Saturday morning I went to Brimfield with Emily. This was our second time so we knew what to look out for, and yet this were things that still shocked us. I went to get a brouch for Halloween, Pyrex, and blue ball jars. It was a successful trip there!

I took a nap before Price and I met a new BAC masters student for dinner to give him some pointers on surviving that school, like who are the important people to know, time management, and who are the people you’ll see by the BAC, like Louie.

Price and I watched NASCAR when we got home.

Sunday was much more relaxed with ‘sleeping in’ until 9:30, reading the paper and watching the news and food network. We then headed out to try a sandwich place before seeing the noon showing of The American. Both the sandwich place and the movie were great.

Then a trip to Home Depot and Target, a nap, and Price was gone again. 🙁

Chaos

September 12, 2010

My life is surrounded by chaos right now. Absolute chaos- which is why blogging has been shoved aside right now. I just couldn’t focus enough to sit down in this mess.

Our apartment is finally getting fixed from the flood… 5 months and 3 weeks later. Well, just about everything had to be moved away from the walls so the guy could work. Don’t get me wrong, I love that is is getting fixed but I forgot that this has to happen for the work to get done. So everything is displaced- including the rabbits, who are now set up in the kitchen.

Most of all I’m thankful that our landlords said that we could have the apartment painted the colors we picked. So the next pictures of this place will have nice Martha Stewart colors up on the walls. I can’t wait to get rid of that dark purple wall. Stay tuned…

lesson learned

September 1, 2010

If you bring in photos of the hair color you really, truely want… get it.  Don’t back down. The hair stylist has the right to explain how to get that AND what else she thinks would look good. But remember that you are the client and you should get what you want.

I learned a very valuable lesson last night. As much as I can be the bossy bitch who gets what she wants, I am also the person who will cave easily. So, while I have a great cut and color, it is not at all the color that I wanted. Must go back tonight and be a little brave and explain that I am really not happy.

Wish me luck. {please}

To be continued….

Paint Chips and a Bee

August 30, 2010

I think this Sherwin Williams commercial is done beautifully. I absolutely love it.

I love the comemrical for how well it is executed. The colors are vibrant. The way the flowers are created is creative. And of course I love the bee in there.

I wish the song was something that you could purchase. Too bad.

Stalled

August 27, 2010

I have been feeling stalled lately. I have lost my motivation for just about anything. Our sofa, the Cos, is my friend. I just spend my nights lounging and watching movies. I try to get motivated but nothing is really grabbing my attention. I tell myself that life would be easier if I just did all the laundry and then actually folded it and put it away instead of leaving it in the dryer/on sofa/in wash baskets. It def would make getting dressed in the morning faster. I tell myself that but I still have not touched the piles that keep getting higher.

It’s those types of things that are falling behind in my life. I have like 6 blog posts started, 8 yelp reviews, a few scrapbooking pages, etc. I have always been a person to start something and not finish it but it has gotten bad this summer. This summer of freedom. The summer of no classes, no portfolios, and no registration. You would think I would love the free time but it is such a weird experience I am having trouble figuring out time management. Saying that is just weird. I have been so good at juggling work, school, homework, and lack of sleep for years that not having that extreme pressure has me completely confused.

The biggest issue is that I am a weekend person. I am a weekend warrior. It is when I catch up on cleaning, laundry, being crafty, shopping, meal prep, etc. With the last few weekends away I have thrown my typical schedule upside down. Dont get me wrong, I love my weekends away but it really wrecks my ‘schedule’.

I’m really hoping that I can regroup this weekend and get out of this rut. So far I have planned…

finish up some blog posts and schedule them to post
finish my yelp drafts and do a few more reviews
3 scrapbooking pages
making marinara sauce (about 18 qts) and canning it
begin the process of purging the office
finish the cube project

we shall see how everything turns out…

 Happy Friday!!!

Last Night…

July 23, 2010

I’m really starting to love Thursday nights. I pretty much always had class on Thursday nights so I never got to go out. My only experience with the typical Thursday night bar hopping/drunk were my T rides back from school. Those rides home were horrible. The absolutely last thing I wanted to deal with were drunk, loud, rude students after I had just spent the day working and going to 3-6 hours of class. But now that I am done with school I am starting to enjoy my Thursday’s. A couple of weeks ago I went to an after show party for Semi Precious Weapons and last night I went out to see Wakey!Wakey! IObne of the positive things that the BAC taught me is how to function without sleep, which is why I can I can handle staying out late (such as 3am for SPW) and make it into work on time and function!

So last night I went to Great Scott, a local bar, to see Wakey!Wakey! Here is where I admit to still watching shows on The CW. I know I’m too old for it but I can’t help it. As much as I think One Tree Hill has taken a horrible turn this last season I still watch. All of this watching made me notice this bartender on there who’s role began to increase to include some singing. I finally noticed that ‘Grubbs’ really is Miachel Grubbs- a real life musician (much like Kate Voegele who plays Mia Catalano) who’s the lead singer and piano player for Wakey!Wakey!

Brian Bonz, another Brooklyn artist, opened the night. He was really funny explaining that they got a speeding ticket on the way up from NY. ‘”It’s not Rock ‘n’ Roll, until you get pulled over for speeding”. Very True. I enjoyed his set because it was new to me. (top 2 photos)

Wakey!Wakey! put on a great show. I really loved it. Their album is great but hearing it in person takes it to another level. It made me love their songs even more. New favorite is ‘Twenty Two’ because of all the fantastic whistling. Best whistling ever! 🙂 So Boston/Allston/Mass thanks Wakey!Wakey! for putting on such a great show.

Graduation Part 3: We like to Party!

June 13, 2010

Last but not least, this is the final installment of my college graduation pictures. We had such a great time having our family and friends over. We had BBQ from Red Bones and have 2 women from Hostess Helper come help to make it all run smoothly. They were great esp when we were about to bring the food out and is started to have a heavy summer shower. They quickly regrouped and we cleared off tables and chowed down on a lot of food inside.

We even had a caricature station set up! I had met Ash Jackson at a party before and loved the work that he does. My nephews loved him and we loved that he was so great for taking the time to whip up dinosaurs and animals for them while getting out caricatures done. I’m going to get our caricature framed this week!!!

A big thank you to our family and friends for all your support and for celebrating with us. And, of course, a big thanks to my mom for organizing such a great party.
(Handmade thank you’s are being sent out 🙂 )
